I just bought one of those warn hitch recovery shackle mount things and i wanted to get a locking hitch pin so no jackasses can steal it. i bought a masterlock one from wal-mart and it isnt long enough to fit through the hitch and lock. i noticed the sides of the hitch are thicker than most other cars/trucks. anyone else have this problem and what did you do?

I got a longer one by buying the kit at Walmart that comes with pin, lock, ball, and drawbar.

don't leave that lock on there very long. it will corrode and you'll have to cut it off. i would suggest putting your shackle reciever in the drivers side storage nook in the bed. most people don't even realize they are there. that lock will lock permanently though over time...but that might be what you want. i use a trailer a couple times a month, so i need to be able to change it out for my reese insert. can't help on the longer pin...last one of those locks i had was on my T-100, and it was still on there when i sold it.

Agree with RCBS, they will rust up, I went with the S.S, type, it doesn't lock but have not had any issue with someone trying to take it.
I put the shackle behind the seats in back, and ride with the small skid plate in the receiver.

The one I picked up has this red pull thing, you have to pull it out and rotate. Pain in the butt to do if not use to it, but a breeze when you figure it out....:)

I have the same Master Lock pin and had the same problem...too short.
I pulled off the rubber bushing and ground down the lock side on a belt sander. It took a couple tries to get the right amount off, but it works fine. I used a bench top sander, so all I had to do was hold the piece steady on the belt.

I've got this one from Masterlock.

It's rusting, haven't tried to take it off yet, but it fits fine on my receiver and WARN shackle hitch.

That's a good idea. I've had mine for a while and didn't want to have to go shopping again.

x2 I also recently bought my warn reciever shackle and bought the locking hitch pin and it didnt fit! i was bummed. So i went to Autozone and bought a reese one. It was only $17. I just measured it in the store real quick, went outside to see if it would work, then got it. Fits nice and snug. No noise.

    +1
That's the one I have as well. It's a tight fit but it works fine.
