todays fun fact, MUCH apologies from when I said I would do this the first couple of times. FINALLY got around to taking off one of my spindle bolts to do some research.

The bolt is the size 5/8" or M16 (fits right in those fitting slots, put it on one of those bolt measure tools - the norm sizing dealie, the one you can walk up to, only went up to M12).
A 3/4" HEX NUT fits PERFECTLY and is about 1.5" or so I think, somewhere around that. The washer is maybe 0.5" I couldn't really tell, a worker came up to me before I could pop one out of it's packaging.

The OE spindle bolt is about 5 7/8" long (close to 6" BUT NOT 6", it comes to about 1 to 2 lines before the 6" marker). Now from what I can see, the bolt looks to be machined, like a pipe fitting. I tried to put it on a 5/8" hex nut and it wouldn't go on, so be careful. As of now I will try to get some time to hit up the Home Depot (kind of far from me and would rather have the bolt handy to make sure). But this is what I found out today for those wanting to do the DIY spacer kit.

also the hex nuts were 99 cents ea. along with the washers being 99 for a pack of 3, not sure of the bolts but at most say ... $2?

oops before I lose all this, the socket wrench size is 19 mm, I think the one I used was a metric but the reg. 19mm should work also.

 

got back from Home Depot, found the M16 bolts and they look like the OE spindle bolt. They come in two different ones, one with all threads and another that has some threads at the end. there's 3 kind from what I saw in the box they keep them in, 60 mm, 80 mm and 90 mm. Not sure which size to get but the 90mm is $3.98 ea. They also only come in zinc (well the one I went to only has those).

 

Sorry I must have missed it. What is the purpose of replacing the spindle bolt?

the OE bolt is too short when putting in a 1" or more spacer, if you try, the OE spindle bolt won't even reach the OE spindle to bolt in to for reinstall. I am not sure how long you will need the new bolt to be though (from what I was reading back in this old thread, a forum member named Inthablood did this mod and said the bolt will need to be about 1"/1.5" longer). A guy that bought a spindle spacer kit (machined spacer) had to shorten the driver side spindle bolts due to them being too long (which is good imo, rather have it a little longer than I need v. too short).

Expected cost for this drop though is around $20 or so (you will need four of ea. - bolt, washer, hex nut).

Bolt (90mm - M16 @ Home Depot) - $3.98ea
Grade 8 washer (3 pack @ OSH) - $0.99 ea.
Grade 8 Hex Nut (3/4" @ OSH) - $0.99 ea.

When I do this DIY spacer I will try to take as many pictures as I can (I am doing this all on my own, cell phone may get dirty), also will be using some fine grit sand paper for bolts and left over Duplicolor wheel clear coat to try and prevent new spindle bolts from corroding (I do this kind of thing with copper tubing on air suspension systems).

forgot about that. may not have to/have to. Will see when I do the drop, as of now I have my OE springs ready to be cut (only doing 1/2 coil - 1" drop), and getting 2" angled lowering blocks.

 

thought about my build, what do you guys think of an old skool rat rod'sh look?
seen this online, it's the 14x5/6 spare that the 1st gens have. Mine will be light blue with chrome trim rings and lugs.
