lift and tire advice...

looking for some thoughts on a lift and tires.

thinking toytech 3" coil and AAL so i can get some bigger tires. the stock 245's offroad package are on right now. any suggestions? my english teacher budget will allow approx. $6-700 for tires. i need something that can handle new england weather. nitto terra-grapplers? i'm open to all suggestions. i'll get back on to check the forum, but if you have the time, and email would be even better, mac_jackson@indianmountain.org

The nitto looks good in the photos, but I know no-one who runs them, what does that say ?, it says I know no-one, he he. If your buget was a little bigger i'd say the BFG's KO's, but maxing at $700.00 I would go Cooper ATR's or Dunlop Radial RT's. Good luck, when you get your new meats, send pix.

 

oops sorry, i thought i was at the other sight. any of the above are good. tirerack has the bfg's for about 150. i suggest the firestone a/ts for $100 or the m/ts for around 150 also

Really. For an English teacher, there are a ton of words missing cap. letters.

 

I had the Cooper ATR's (Well AT's at the time) and they were great.

 

They are nice are'nt they, good road characteristics with decent off-road ability's, at a fair price...OMG I sound like an advert, sorry.

 

get an a/t tire check out e bay got my tires $625 or tire rack is a good site

 

a/t tires will have the best treadwear and all-around wet/dry performance. i just prefer the more aggressive look of the m/t tires, but then again i'm willing to deal with the slightly slower cornering and faster treadwear because i'll look cool lol

 

thanks, folks. so before i start the ball rolling is there any reason i shouldn't be getting the toytec 3" with aal's? anything else i should be worried about when selecting the tires? for those that may have lifted their own chariot, what size wheels have you gone with?

 

i kept my stock wheels and put 285-75-16s on but i have a 1st gen taco so i dont know what will work with yours

 

I personally like smaller rims (15"). You can get I nice set of Pro Comp rims & BFG 32 X 11 1/2 for around $1050.00

Once I burn thru my stock tires on my 08, I'ts going up 3" w/ the 15" rims again.

i did the 3" toytec lift with the aal and i put on 33's.... i have 16" rims so the tires are 285/75/ R16

I had to trim a little of the flemsy wheel well plastic to get 100% clearance but it's worth it.

can you even fit a 15" wheel on a 2nd gen without the wheel contacting the brakes?

I agree, i like smaller rims with alot of rubber. I will never go higher than my 16's

 

Alot of people out here run and love the grapplers. Me, I am waiting for budget reasons too, but will probably go with them.
