I said it, I want it, I would do almost anything to have it! I would consider bringing a Helix over from Europe (if there was even a chance I could afford it, I WOULD!) What do you guys think!?

Everyone agrees with you. Unfortunately, the US won't let it happen.

I have actually seen a Hilux on my way back from Daytona Beach. Had to do a double take, but it was a white one.

What year was it? Like an 81' hilux?

And op there is a website called dieseltoyz.com (I believe) that will swap the hilux diesel in for you... you just gotta have the $$$.

Someone said the tariff tax to bring in a Hilux is 25% of the sale price, then there is the cost of transport, and you are subject to the vagaries of the customs department to determine your Hilux meets all DOT standards, or they will send it back.
The Federal government doesn't want you to buy a foreign diesel.
They want you to buy a gas engine made in America (which is my Toyota Tacoma).
I would LOVE a diesel Tacoma.
The only ones lately to make it here as a diesel are the VW's.

New body style Hilux. Exactly like this one, just in white.

The German auto makers currently have more diesel choices than American auto makers.

You would think Toyota could easily be on board, but then again we don't exactly know who they are in bed with so to speak, that prevents this.

    x2!

all small motor diesels I've driven have been much to slow for me to handle.
at work we had an old land cruiser diesel, slowest vehicle I've ever driven.

I'm so desperate for a diesel with great fuel economy and power, that I would go to Nissan for one: http://news.pickuptrucks.com/2011/0...ng-four-cylinder-diesel-for-nissan-titan.html

Why shouldn't Toyota do something of the same lines? They're client-base would expand drastically! I believe there would be people that would get a diesel Tacoma even if they bought a brand new one a year before the diesel would come out. I know I would! Needless to say, I want it so bad that i'm going to A: convert mine (which is very unlikely), or B: Go buy one from Nissan. Who wouldn't want a truck with the gas mileage of a camry?

I've read people reporting 31mpg on the highway. With turbo diesel, I know it would be faster than my 3.4L simply because it had more torque.

Only stuck up douche bags drive Prius'. I may be a db at times but i'm certainly not stuck up! :p
Besides, I want and need a truck in my life. I will never live without a truck in my driveway. Since Toyota is the best, I want one of those but perfer diesel. What's so bad about that?
