So I get my shocks in today and I tried to install them using my Spring Compressors (harbor freight), well I was almost to where I could install them and noticed how the compressor was bowing so I took them off and called a local shop so they could install them with their wall mounted compressor. This is going to be a long week waiting to install everything!

Let me know what they charge for that, I'm going to need that done as well.

The Springs are pretty strong. The rental compressors have caused many injurys in the past. I always recomend, if you dont have a solid wall mount compressor, pay the $20.00 or so per side, and have it done for ya. :)

I paid 20 bucks per side. Well worth it as far as I'm concerned.

OK, y'all talked me into it. Did my own on my car but they are not sprung like these nor are they as thick. Now if I can just find a convenient reputable place around the house. Beginning my search now.

Any body forsee issues using my oem springs on the trd yellow bilsteins?

It's a truck & my 03 P5 is so low that it makes me think my ass is draggin the ground & rides like a track car to a certain degree so it should be better than the toasted ass plain oems on there now. Hopin to ditch a little wandering & wheel hop on bumps. Little worse ride with more control would be worth it to me.

I have a buddy that never returned his from some auto parts place and it works fine. What sux is that it was locked in his brothers garage when we needed to install mine. No way I was going to undo all the work we had done so we did it the old fasion way. Please don't try this if you don't have too.......

Even tho my truck isn't lifted, just standard base model prerunner? What if I go with a spacer? What size would be optimal? 2.5 with 1.5-2.0 aal out back OK?

If you take yours to a shop to put them together for you make sure they put them together right, I will be taking mine back tomorrow, the studs up top don't line up right with the bottom mount of the shock and they forgot to install the upper rubber shock bushing. I printed out from the service manual how to assemble them and how everything should line up. My bad for figuring a automotive repair shop would know how to put this together right, unfortunately I couldn't stay when they did the work I had to drop them off and pick them up later. Hopefully this will be my one SNAFU for this project.

OME??? I have oem plain factory black shocks right now. Are you saying that a base model factory coil on 08 v6 DC TRD yellow/blue shocks with 12k on them & no offroad time is gonna lift my truck 2.5 in the front or was that with a OME spring? How much if any would I get with plain factory coil + TRD? I really just wanted fresher better shock action. Mine seem fatigued. A 3/4 lift in front might be good without adding aal. Just want those 31s not sawing on the wheel wells, barely touches any only if wheel turned all the way.

No big deal if the bottom shock mount eye doesnt line up with the top plate studs. Just use a long 1/4" or long 3/8" ratchet extension to turn the bottom of the shock to line it up.

OME = Old Man Emu. Proven off road suspension components.

That's what I figured. I'm just hopin the TRDs aren't compressed much more than they should in the normal ride height with the oem spring.

Well, once again another TW member (me) is thanking Chris. Chris hooked me up with some info that kept my coils from being assembled incorrectly. Again, Thanks Chris, you saved me probably a couple hours of work this coming Saturday!
