Sort of the way i feel about the block placement as well. The ramp will not be able to be moved once it is installed. ;)

Overkill is a reality to us old farts.

I need to take some pics during the construction. I do not want to have to build this ramp again.

morning all: had a over 60 moment last night. locked my garage with all my keys in the "66" ignition ! couldn't find the spare keys for it (probablly forgot where I hid them). used a junk mail credit card to open the entrance door. maby took 1 minute. went and got 2 more keys made this morning. heck, probablly just wasted money. could just keep using those credit cards if it happens again. looks like locked doors aren't as secure as people think. it was very easy to open.

 morning everybody.... finally some time to sit

Spent Saturday trying to tire out a chocolate puppy so she wouldn't bark while we were out.... 'bout wore myself out before she wore out  Then yesterday once I got home, didn't get to sit until dinner time. I'm pooped

    Have a great day everyone

So in the mail today I have an offer from the Toyota dealership where I purchased my Tacoma. There was a voucher for $5,000.00, when I read the fine print, it is for a specific SKU# Avalon.

There was also a PIN number with he wording just put in the pin number at a specific website to get your vehicles worth.

OK I will bite I went to the website and entered the PIN number. Seems I also had to provide my name, address, and an email addy. I don't think so.

Why do dealerships just flat out lie to the customer. If I was going to have to put in all the additional information just tell me so.

The foundation for the ramp is installed. A lot better than just building the ramp on top of the dirt.

Tomorrow I will start the ramp install. I borrowed the neighbors framing nailer. Now I have to see if it is compatable with my compressor.

I get these all the time Tom, it's a "come on in and we will sell you a new Toyota and you will not even feel it when we stick it in" deal that they have to try to up their sales for the month...When I'm in the market for a new car, I always go to the dealers on Sunday(they are closed so there is no pressure form the salesman) and see whats on the lot then I get a game plan for pricing before I go back to buy. works pretty good...:D

Welp the nailer hooks into my compressor. I need to go and get some nails but before I do I nee to see how many additional 2X6's I will need for the ramp. With a little luck the ramp build will be complete today. Lowes is less than a mile away. Home Depot is only another 1/4 mile further form me. LOL

I will take some pics of the framing as I go along. I will probably need the table saw for two angle cuts on the 2X6 ramp boards.

I did the same thing on my big garage- OVERKILL!, glad I did it. figured what I saved on labor could be put toward extra strength. we just had a lowes open up locally. don't have to run near as far now.

    Morning all...........I'm back.
Nine days in Monterey/Carmel for the biggest gathering of Porsche's ever. Estimated at 3000 cars and 65,000 people attending.
Saw lots of old friends we haven't seen in years including a really good friend that was diagnosed with a brain tumor last year. He was given two months to live......that was 13 months ago! He doing pretty good considering. Brought quite a few tears seeing each other.
We flew out on the Greyhound Bus....I mean United Airlines. I think the bus would have been more comfortable. They added a couple more rows of seats since the last time we flew anywhere. NO legroom for someone 6-4!
Will post some pics of the cars later......Good to be home.

    THX for the kudos guys.

I am rockin and rollin today. The support frame is built. Time for lunch at 13:00.

Next up is the ramp deck which is already cut. I will have to set up my table saw to cut 2 angled pieces and as long as it is out I will cut the end cap so it fits correctly.

The frame is overkill as I used both nails and screws. It is a solid frame that does not move. I plan on screwing all the deck 2X6's.

Finished the ramp today. it came out pretty decent considering I am not a carpenter.

Now I have to paint the sides the dark gold color and will probably use Thompson's water seal on the deck and get some 3M stick on non slip tape.

I would like to paint the deck the cream color but I know in a year it will need to be repainted.
