my truck has been randomly popping ever since i put 5100's on it. they still pop all the time. i guess it's just my trucks way of saying its not happy with the lift. me turning the wheel all the way to the left an turning up the music is my way of saying, "get over it"

just out of curiosity, how long should cv's last at 2.5 to 3 inches with only occasional off roading and no diff drop?

Usually until you start hearing a popping noise when the wheel's turned.

I've heard of guys running 3.5" of lift and never having a problem in 75,000 miles and some that have issues after 5,000. Luck of the draw, it seems.

    A few bolts are different.
Yea others have said that too but its weird that all this started when I put the UCA's on there and got it aligned. I have close to 30,000 miles on my truck with the lift, occasional off roading and the cv boots are still ok. I take that as the CV joints should be ok too!

could it really matter that I put the long uca bolt back in there the opposite way it came out? I dont think I could have gotten it back in on the drivers side like it was originaly.

I'm taking it in for a check up next week so hopefully they can tell me what the noise is. yea yea I know, I'll lube up first.

my popping is really random. i only hear it when i start to move after its been parked for a while. usually i only hear it when i turn the wheel, but not ever time i turn it. and occasionally it will pop when i am going straight. it's always a single pop and never a multiple string of them. i'm assuming this is normal after a lift. i understand my CV's will go out sooner than a stock truck but i think they are fine right now. i only have about 25k on the truck and i've only been lifted for about 10k

    how much were the replacements?

i'm sure its not a serious problem. is it constant or really loud?

That doesn't sound like a CV issue. Sounds like something else just wasn't quite torqued right when the lift was installed. You probably have nothing to worry about.
