    Hi All,

I'm looking for my first Tacoma and wanted other members opinions on this truck. It's a 2002 Taco Ext. Cab, 4x4, V6, Automatic, TRD, SR5, Tow Hitch, power everything. It has 86,500 miles, 2 owners, clear title/no accidents, overall GOOD condition. He's selling it because he just had a kid and picked up a replacement 1st Gen 4-door.

The rear bumper has rust on the chrome portion (seems common from other trucks I've seen), the tires will probably need replacing in 7-10k miles, and it is due for a timing belt job very soon. Let me know your thoughts, I am going to take a look at it tonight. Any help is appreciated!

For a 2002 around here like that would be worth of $8,000 easy, it just depends on where you live. I'd just look at Kelly Blue Book and see what it says it's worth in your area. Then go from there.

The max I would go would be around 10,000. Thats pretty good mileage for an 02.

My 02 Doublecab prerunner with 132,000 miles cost my father 10,200. If that truck is estimated 8 grand, then I got screwed over haha

There's a lot of places around the country where they are equally expensive according to the posts I've seen on here. You see a lot of people saying "I wouldn't pay more than $X" Well, good luck then because you generally won't find a decent one for what a lot of people name. The key is being patient and finding one where someone underprices it, of course you need to move quick!

Wow, if this truck was going for 8-10k, I wouldn't hesitate to buy it unseen. He's asking 13k for it and I managed to get it down to 11.3K, which is the lowest he said he would be willing to go. This is also the lowest mileage truck I have seen in this area, everything else has 130k+ on it and still asking $11,500.

Exactly! It took me a little less than 3 months looking about 6 days a week for to find the exact truck I wanted, oh not to mention I would check nationwide autotrader, cl, cars, etc...I was even willing to pay a little extra for shipping... But patience was key and found my truck that was less than 2 hrs away from me...

I almost purchased on in Salt Lake City, UT (and would have had to fly from So. Cal. to pick it up). That's how hard they are to find, but it was a gem (or so I thought) - 25K miles on it, pristine. A friend went to look at it and it was beat to hell underneath, so I passed.

I personally think 11,3 is a very good price. These trucks arent cheap. Ive seen people around here asking 15-17k for 1st gens. Id say if its clean pull the trigger at 11,300.

The truck was inspected in 2010 for the frame recall and no perforations were found. I contacted the dealership where it was performed and they said only the rust proofing was applied. Should I still be worried with the frame? Also, does the frame warranty extend to 2017?

That's what I'm thinking, so far I've seen two trucks in the same configuration. One had 160,000 miles and the lowest they would go was $10,078. The other has 130,000 miles and they won't budge lower than $11k even.

Damn well atleast ur friend went and checked it out for u...ya these trucks are very hard to find, there were times that I wanted to give up cause I would either find them in the east and by the time I called it was sold or the person/dealer thought I wasn't a serious buyer since I was calling from LA..and I'm pretty picky I guess and with all the different combos this truck comes in, I was very lucky to find the exact truck I wanted

I too have been pretty picky with the configuration. I know I want an Ext. Cab 4x4 for sure. I've seen 3 decent deals since I've been searching (about 1 month now) and they literally were sold 2 days after listed. This one has been listed for only 4 days now and just on CL, so I think he hasn't gotten as many hits as if he did Autotrader/Cars.com.
