Nice gear list. How do you like the streamlight? I am in on that armytek tryout thing so i may end up either getting one of those or the streamlight. I have a hennessey hammock. It is pretty nice! I highly recommend you get a bigger tarp though because the one they give you is just small enough to expose you to the elements.

Small Magnesium chips are great for fires. Burns hot and lasts a good while. Use your dryer lint as a fire element. Empty the dryer and place some in a freezerbag. You can store it anywhere.

I take this a step further. Mix the dryer lint with melted candle wax and pour it in cardboard egg cartons. The wax makes them water resistant and they burn longer to.

Thats the same pack I have. Do you feel like your always having to retighten all your straps. Mainly the straps to pull the top of the pack closer to your head? I was only 38lbs loaded, and I was constantly messing with mine. Maybe I just had mine all screwed up.

Mine seems to be fine :notsure: Ive had a lot of weight in mine and the straps seem to stay put

Actually, he hiked over 1,000 miles since many of the trails are out-and-backs, the 734 doesn't include the distance of the return trips. That's roughly an average of 6 miles a day, every day since early May.

I know some people who have attempted the AT but had to give up due to injury - how far is that trail from start to finish anyways?

AT trail is about 2,181 miles. I know a few people who attempted as much as they could and got about 200 miles in a month but had to give up because it got so tough. There are not many people at all that have actually completed the whole thing. Between injury and money to complete it all in one shot, makes it extremely tough.

2100 miles? I didn't realize it was that long....of course the Continental Divide Trail out west here is 3100, from the MT/Canada border to the NM/Mexico border.
