Check your starter relay under the hood. That checks out get a volt meter and confirm you have 12 volts at the starter motor. That checks out OK have a friend turn the key and test power to the remote wire if that has 12 volts your starter is shot.

remove it and take it to autozone, they can test it and make sure its ok, and if its not then you can pick up another one while your there. ive fried a couple of them in mud.

Remote wire is the small wire going to the starter.

You can also pull that wire off and run a wire direct to battery positive to see if it will crank. Make sure it's in neutral with the brakes on first.

well i checked everything and i had 12 volts so i said well the damn thing is fried and was getting ready to go spend 180 on a starter tonight. then i told my dad to turn the key one more time while i hit it with a hammer and it started up on the first try i then turn the truck off and started it about 10 times with no problems so idk maybe it just froze up or something.

Some stuff. Not a lot, just some.
12V on the battery means nothing. A dead celled battery will often show 12V.

Take off the big wire on the starter, wire brush it and reinstall. My '95 PreTaco has same symptoms from time to time & that fixes it.

    Look at build!
bet it was just jammed up, hop it continues to work for you, my mustang did this alot and i went through 3 starters in a year, and usually when they start to freeze up it means that its going bad and you should probably just rebuild it
