Like to get a set from black fire but can't seem to figure out if they are legal. I even called the local motor vehicle branch today and the could not give me a answer.

HID lights in a proper, DOT/SAE approved projector lamp assembly are legal, while HID bulb conversion kits to go in the stock lights are not legal for on-road use. I am an authorized inspector here in BC so I know what I'm talking about.

I have HID bulbs in my stock housing (until I can get $$$ for retrofit) and I'm certainly not the only truck in Edmonton driving around with them. Have never heard of someone getting pulled over for them. The cops around here have much better things to do.

Those would be legal if they have DOT or SAE approval markings on the lense, something I was not able to determine from the website, maybe I missed it.

And yes, there's lots of non street legal HIDs out there, I saw 3 or 4 vehicles with them this evening. Just because you probably will get away with it (for a while) doesn't make it OK, you're blinding other drivers if they're not approved projectors. Think about it, do you really want oncoming drivers to have trouble seeing where they are going? It's your safety too.

I'm pretty sure that's the case in any developed country. Canada, US, Europe, etc.
