Ive got a 04 TRD manual with the extended cab. My BFG Trail TA tires are about done at 97000. IM hoping to find some tires that are decent in snow as i live in MN and it can get pretty harsh. A good all around tire that will hold up is what i want to invest in. The BFGs got horrible reviews and mine have worn horribly. I cant speak to if these are the orginal tires. IF so i guess 97k isnt pretty good but i got the truck used and these have to go. THey are worn bald in some spot and down to the wear marks in others.

Any advice on tires that wont my my truck too noisy or look like crap. The BFGs look good but other than that.......that is about it.

Any advice here? IM looking to upgrade before winter hits.

I've been very happy with BFG A/T KOs for years. (3 sets on 2 different trucks, spanning well-over 100K miles, with multiple off-road hunting trips in the Colorado high-country.) Highly recommended.

That said, I don't think you can go wrong with Goodyear Duratracs either.

My Tacoma had Michelin LTXs on it when I bought it. Those lasted until the first snow fall - very disappointing, not to mention way too soft in the sidewalls.

anyone running the yokomama geolanders? how do they compare.

There is a guy near me that has 4 stock rims with these mounted with "35% tread remaining" and is asking 350 for the set. Not sure if that is a good deal or not. CHances are id be buying the stock rims and maybe a bit of mileage for $350.....

BFG KM2's are my next choice of tire. I currently run Nitto Terra Grapplers and I live in Northern Iowa and they've handled snow and ice quite well considering I have a Pee-runner.

?? so basically just pick a tire? Everyone seems to have raving and rotten reviews about everything ive looked at. RIght now i have the BFG Trail TA and i can get those again for about $160 per tire. They dont much impress me in the snow. I live in MN and we get alot of it. Of course when i got the truck they were 3/4 gone so maybe they would be ok?
THe KOs are about 225 per tire and i have heard people getting very littel miles out of them .....and yet others.....tons of miles.

I drive mostly higway and in town. Rarely offroad.

IMO, what you have are not very good tires.

Go with either BFG A/T KOs or Goodyear Duratracs.

ive read alot about the poor ride quality and increasing noise problems with the BFG KOs as the mileage increases as well as trying to keep them in balance. How do they hold up with city driving? I dont ever offroad. The occasional dirt road but thats about it.

Of course ...i have read good and bad reviews about every tire out there.

The problem is, you're going to get at least 6 different opinions from 5 people you ask.

All I can do is reiterate what I said above... I am VERY HAPPY with BFG A/T KOs. I've run them on 2 different Toyota trucks, spanning well-over 100K miles. I've never had any ride issuse, never noticed excessive noise, and never had a balance problem. Like you, the majority of my miles are spent on road surfaces (combination city and highway). Each of my previous 2 sets delivered well-over 50K miles.

All of that said, I have friends who swear by their Duratracs, which is causing me to CONSIDER trying them when my current BFGs need replacement. This is NOT because I'm in any way dissatisfied, but it's hard to ignore the other rave reviews and I do like the way they look...

i am really serious about considering the Michelin LTX AT2 tires on my 04. I cannot find any pictures of this gen. truck with these tires. All of them have been the new body style of 05+.

Can anyone post a pic of their truck with these on them from the pre 05 era? id really like to see what they look like on the truck.

    Thank you!

I have Nitto TG's and although I have yet to take them through snow, I have heard mostly good reviews when it comes to that. I am certainly pleased how they handle otherwise. Like others have said, there are gonna be good & bad reviews/opinions on EVERY tire out there. No tire is perfect in every situation but for alot of snow I'm pretty sure a good winter SNOW tire would be your best bet such as Blizzaks or similiar.
