Alignment!!!

I cannot get my truck aligned properly. Ive gotten new tires still drifts right. I had it done at an independent shop once and once at the dealer. It drives me crazy.

 

1st post????? what size wheels did you get. could be you need new uca's and welcome to TW

 

Welcome to TW. Sorry to hear about your alignment. What has the dealer said about it?

 

Have you checked your tire pressure lately? Is it the same side to side?

Have you looked at your brakes lately?

 

You mentioned new tires, have you gotten them checked? Balanced and road force tested?

 

Mine does the same thing, pulls right after i had bf goodrich mud -terrains put on. Two alignments and still the same from two different shops. I started a thread asking about it too and it seems that everyone says UCA's will fix the problem, now just need to pick up a set, just sucks that they are $500-$700. I wouldnt worry about it for now, mine also wanders bad..

 

mine is an 09 and it wanders to the right since ive had it.. thought it was normal cause of road crown

 

go on highway and when your in the right lane let go of wheel and it pulls/wanders to right, now go to left lane and let go and it stays straigt and starts to pull left a tinny bit....but ya mine pulls right much more, hardly at all to the left.

 

ok but if something hits me while im in the left lane im blaming you lol

I have a similar question and thought I could jump into this thread. I had some problems with alignment with the stock Rugged Trails on my 06 Double Cab 4x4. The truck slightly pulled to the right when I let go of the steering wheel. The tires got very worn on the inside edge of the passenger front tire and slightly worn on the inside edge of the driver front. I knew I needed an alignment but I wanted to wait until after I got new tires. I got some new tires installed (Pro Comp M/T 265/75/16) and had the truck aligned. After the alignment the shop (Sears) gave me a print out and showed me that the "Toe" was off for both front tires and they repaired it.

After driving away I notice that the truck still pulls to the right. Just about the same as before. I took it back to Sears and they put it back on the lift, ran their computer (lasers and mirrors...) gave me another print out showing that everything was in the green. They say there is nothing else they can do. No adjustments needed.
So, the truck still pulls to the right and I don't want to wear out the new tires. I have checked the pressure and both tires are the same.

Any ideas? Should I try to adjust the tie rods at home?

 

My shop swears by about 1/2 degree of cross caster to compensate for road crown. Seems to help. Truck drives straight, it just has about .5* positive camber which makes me insane. Need to get UCAs...

 

So with a stock truck & stock tires I cannot get a good alignment without replacing the stock UCAs with aftermarket UCAs?

You are well within specs on the vehicle has anyone swapped your front tires left to right to see if you have a tire pull. If not try switching just the front tires and see if she goes left.

 

I had the "pulling the right" with my old tires. I just got new tires and I have the same problem... And yes, I have rotated the tires to see if that helps. So, I don't think the tires are the problem.

 

Mine is pulling right also and this is after I did the UCAs. I installed a pair of the Camburg Ball-Joint based UCAs ($360 shipped). My Caster is 2.1 on both side and my Toes is .04 on both side. Now my Camber is what is screwed up, it is .2 on driver and 1.1 on passenger. The Camber was worse after the alignment. I watched the tech try and get it dialed in for two hours and he could not. He even had one of the cams maxed out. He was even using the Hunter Hawkeye laser rack. I am not happy. I am going to be taking it to a shop that does more exotic alignments. To add I was talking with Neubs on this board and he said it took 8 alignments to get his truck the way he wanted. Here is a pick of my results:

 

Sorry, that was a referrence to me needing UCAs with a lift. You should be able to dial it in just fine at stock height. Tire size doesn't matter, it is lift that will push it out of spec.

 

just put a little less pressure in your left side tires..

 

Believe it or not, I actually tried that yesterday. I drove with the left front at 30 psi and right front at 38. Still didn't help much.
