I hear ya on the wolves...usually its people with little or no experience in the matter trying to call the shots.

Also, I watched the news conference that was held at 3pm today...Apparently when the police got the call, when they arrived on scene lions were at the roadway behaving "aggressively". So the first responders shot them with their duty weapons. They cited the lack of day light as a reason for putting down the animals. Also under the recommendations of Jack Hanna and many veterinarians/specialists the animals were put down. They were able to tranquilize 1 grizzly bear 3 leopards and some sort of monkey. A veterinarian attempted to tranquilize a tiger yet when the dart hit, it charged so I had to be shot. There are 2 animals still at large a gray wolf and a monkey, which the monkey is likely carrying Hepatitis B and orders are to shoot the monkey. All in all it was a huge waste of animals due to the selfish acts of the owner. Would have liked to been in Ohio today though would have been interesting to see the events.

...That's a pretty fucked picture. Just saw a commercial the other day about how rare bengal Tigers are... and then this. I know they were meaning the wild but still.

As angry as I still am, this article helped paint the picture a little more.

    Still hard to believe.

I have to admit I am one of those people that could never harm an animal, I have tons of friends that hunt and I am not sure I could do it, just can't justify killing an animal who has no idea what is about to happen to them.

    But......

In this situation some asshole caged a bunch of animals he shouldn't have had, then let them loose as an FU to society, these were extremely dangerous animals that authorities dealt with in the best manner they could. Sure they could have tranquilized them, but the biggest fear of the authorities was that they would dart one of these 300 lbs animals, it would stumble off into the dark, and eventually wake up pissed off.

Hurts to read these stories, but it was dealt with in the safest way it could have been.

I read somewhere the cops weren't equipped with tranqulizers, small town I guess. They had to make a decision before they could gather enough I guess. It's really sad to see this happen. I don't know why ppl can or would want to do this.

Similar story, did anyone ever see a show on Animal Planet where people were eventually killed by their exotic pets? I can't remember the name. But some lady had large cats and couldn't afford to feed them, she would gather road kill for food. So they started to starve and she left the gate open and became dinner. They showed the actual footage of the Tiger guarding her body. Cops had to put the cat down. Messed up situations.

I guess if you're looking at it that way, it's pretty much the same thing.

I don't know...this whole thing is just insane.

x10000000  just proves how retarded some things are handled here... There is the Columbus Zoo and hour and a half away... They have the proper equipment to handle things like this.
Zanesville has only 25k people so yeah, fairly small town... but, a major zoo is an hour and a half away that has stuff that can handle crap like this... piss poor decision making in my opinion.

Jack Hanna was just on the news. He was there when the cops shot the animals and he agrees with the decision. He said it would have been too dangerous to tranq at night, and too dangerous to wait until day light.

He was really shaken up by the incident, and he talked about the Ohio laws. I guess they had plans to take the animals away just nowhere to take them yet and they were in contact with different zoos trying to work something out. He said there really was no other option at the time.
