i handled it i didn't feel like involving the police they are a tad barney fife in my town. with that being said i do have respect for le and understand their role in a situation like this and would not down play their importance at all. we for some reason didn't feel like we needed to call for some reason i believe i handled things pretty well.

to be honest i guess i spaced on the police station's non emergency line i thought it was 911 or nothing. i didn't want t use emergency services for a problem i had already handled.

i live in franklinville btw for the other guy who had asked.

the only problem the area ever really had was break ins to peoples sheds and such riding mowers being stolen stuff like that nothing violent. i'm not a hard ass if i where to happen on someone actually removing my property i would call the police but, imo it's up to my wife to call 911. it's my job to stop anything that may want in until they get there. i would not want to hurt anyone but, when someone takes it upon themselves to violate the sanctity of my home i want blood lol.

i don't know what else to say i went into a state of mind that i have never felt before i went around my house clearing corners like a fucking swat team then i went out side ready to fuck some shit up.

that is not my usual mo by any means i just felt like my family and myself where in danger. also keep in mind it was just a loud noise of someone trying to get in a window i did not actually see a person or anything i heard something or some one run away into the woods behind my house however idk. i think they realized that they screwed around with the wrong house this time i hope they do because it almost cost them their life.

 

Fwiw, if you're talking about me, he knocked on my door to check if anyone was home. We had just had tornadoes here in AL (you mighta heard about it!) and I didn't call 911 when he knocked because I figured he was an emergency worker or something, not a threat.

I figured out what was really going on very quickly, and he was on his way. I watched him steal the hose from inside the house. I wasn't going to run after him about a hose.

Anyway, so by the time I got to a phone, he was long gone and not coming back. He wanted an empty house but got a big , loud, alert dog and an armed homeowner.

So I called non emergency so I wouldn't tie up 911, which was flooded that night with real tornado-related emergencies. Fwiw, if I knew who he was at the start, 911 it would have been.

i agree with tiger fan but, i felt in control of the situation and i'm more than capable when it comes to handling a weapon and my self for that matter.

i have a few buddies that are cops local as well we work out together and they are frightened of me i can tell

i do not think there is any situation they could handle any differently or better than myself. if they continued to try and get in you better believe i would have called without a doubt. things just happened so fast i'm not really sure why i didn't have the wife callby the time i made sure everything was ok they had taken off in the fog the police would have never found them and they would have spent their time checking my paper work for my firearms thats how i saw it going down.

i completely agree with what you said though next time i will notify the police absolutely for all the reasons you had just mentioned.

Tigerfan I suggested non reemergency line since it was after the fact to be exact the next day. During an incident it's call 911 and let them handle the problem. If they are trying to gain eentry to the home propper then if you can call 911 or have your s/o do it while you handle it. Hence my recommendation of keeping cell phones beside the bed speed dial and hit speaker if you need to. Even though, people might have the skills needed to handle the problem. Not being on the job most don't understand all the ins an outs of the criminal/civil court system. As evidenced by some of the responses laws and courts are very different from state to state as you know so, I try to err on the side of caution and speak in general terms when I am giving opinions. Sorry for the hijacking of a thread.

Yup, agree 100%. If I think somebody has broken in, the cops are getting called if there's time, absolutely. I was just explaining what happened to me.
