I have been talking to my welding professor the last few classes about next sememster and having him assisnt me in making a front tube bumper for my 02 prerunner.

after some thought he agreed but i need to suply all the parts and figure out what styple bumper i want and ive got the bumper style down but i just need to know what all i would have to purchase to make this a success, such as type of tubing, skid plate, brackets and ect...

any one who has built their own or or has pics of where and how theirs is mounted would help alot

    thanks in advance

Good point but op is 2wd, going with tube would save some weight and I think you might be more succesful with a tube, Less frustration maybe.. but whatever you do op, good luck! and take lots of pictures!

Some stuff. Not a lot, just some.
    Haters gonna hate.

2" DOM for the front tube (across and under the grill area) and hoop (if you want a hoop)
1 3/4" DOM for the down supports
Some 3/8" plate for the mounts to the frame
5/16" for the skids and mlounting tabs.

I wanna do something like this for my Tundy

It's not finished. And trail gear is badass indeed.

Finished product. Don't care for the wild hoops on this but it is solid.

something to think about... if you overengineer your bumper, all the stress is going to your frame. idk about you, but I'd rather bend a bumper than tweak my frame

if the bumper is too strong, it's not going to bend and all the stress is going to go to the frame

think about it from an engineering standpoint ben, the force has to go somewhere. if the welds don't fail and the material doesn't bend, it's only logical that the forces will go to the frame next

Where in Idaho are you? You might check with CBI in Idaho Falls. That bumper coated in ice looks like one of theirs. They have some of their own bumper designs but would probably build you something custom too.

    ...too much shit to list.
I didn't build it, but it is custom built.
It's built to utilize all the factory mounting points including the factory skid. I have the BudBuilt IFS skid to cover up the essentials instead of the factory skid tho.
