I'm HOPEFULLY going to sell my freakin' car friday. If not then soon since i'm getting an overwhelming response from people even if half are tire kickers...

I've been wanting a truck from on here. '05 lifted 6 speed sport double cab.. the lighter blue :drools: but it's 125k miles and $16,250 -about 3ish hours away depending on traffic and speed ;)

Just found a stock darker blue '05 6 speed sport double cab with 102k miles at a dealer about 1.5/2 hours away for $14,900

Normally this would be a no brainer.. but! I haven't seen a tacoma go for so cheap at any dealer unless it had many more miles on it. So i'm a tad afraid of it. It's not exactly the color I want but piss on color when I know I can get it much cheaper since the dealer is always neg. on price. Not to mention wont have to pay even more to get the thing titled in my name...

so.... Anything I can do to ease my mind about the dealership truck? Granted the one on here is much sexier! But times are tough and the extra cash would be extra nice right now.
On the other hand I don't want to buy a truck i'll have to work on constantly. My garage isn't big enough... oh and my ex got all the tools :(

Both should have a lot of miles left on them. Does the TW one have mods the dealer one doesn't? Are they mods you like/want? Dealers are good at hiding problems. Got a friend that's a mechanic or know a friendly mechanic? might be time for a road trip and check them both out.

Once I sell the car all I have left to get around on is the motorcycle. So i'll either be riding it to pick up the truck or bumming a ride. I can't go to both places. Time is insanely limited anyways.

But this is the truck on TW I like:
    And his thread : http://www.tacomaworld.com/forum/buy-sell-trade/179839-time-sell-lifted-05-dcsb-trd-sport-4x4.html

Only getting.. well.. the lift lol but I do want a lifted truck. But not too costly to do it to the other truck either.

    other truck:
And it does have a dent in the tail gait.. can't tell about anything else.

Oddly in their inventory they have other tacos and the rest are priced like a normal dealer would. Like a '09 double cab 48k miles for $26,999 but it's lifted and has aftermarket wheels/tires and one owner.
Also an '07 double cab for $19,999

    so?? It just seems odd...

    oh yea and this one:
2006 in the color I want...
    $14,800
    142,467 miles
    auto :(
    and not sport :(

And it looks like i'll pass the indigo ink one to get to this one.. so could go to this one if indigo ink fails.. but i'll be losing out on my sport package and 6 speed. Which these days I honestly don't care if it's 6 speed or auto. Always thought stick shifts were easier to drive in the snow though..

are they both 4x4....Just a FYI... i would not hesitate to buy a TW truck. Some guys wheel the hell out them. most are just enthusiasts that take good care of them. The SWB looks like it was well taken care of, I would look at the previous owners threads he started and it should give you some info on what kind of condidtion truck is in.

I just checked KBB and put in a Charleston WV zip code and with the miles on the second truck, TRD sport package, 4wd in excellent condition and it came out with a suggested dealer retail price of $19,415. With that dent in the tail gate and other flaws in it (maybe its been in an accident), it could drop the price low enough to what they are asking. It may have also been on their lot for a while. Hope this helps. Good luck with your shopping.

Im diggin the darker blue! :D lower miles than both...if you take mileage into consideration my taco has about 115000 miles and it still runs smooth :D

The indigo ink one was just listed on auto trader... don't think it's been there for a while.

I asked them for a car fax since most of their other vehicles have the free carfax option.

I trust the TW one the most.. but the price I don't like as much. If he'd come down to $15,500 I wouldn't look at any other trucks and i'd be all about it! But he said he needs $16,250 :(

SWB is at least 2nd owner and what kind of lift? Is it's a spacer lift?

Honestly miles on Toyotas don't bother me at all! It's condition and price! The interior photos of the indigo blue are spotless!! But that doesn't mean it wont break down on the way home lol

I use to work as a mechanic back in the day so i've been taught to look for things.. but it's really easy to clean the snot out of the engine bay to make everything look fine.

If the Indigo blue one has any more dents than just the tail gait (my mom did the same kind of dent to her silverado backing into a tree with the tail gait down...women..hah) then it's out. I am picky as crap when it comes to paint/body.

The black one I still like a lot for some odd reason?? But most mileage and not sport. And I dislike chrome (back bumper and grill) but could live with it.

Although TW one is exactly what I want.. except for price.

Rough Country 3" (which is probably what i'll put on the other truck if I got one of the other ones.. have a local guy selling a brand new one he accidentally got for a tacoma when he has a tundra)

The black one you can just pretty much turn it into a sport, looks-wise

Honestly, I just totally dig the hood scoop.

After reading about the Rough Country i'm not too sure about it now either. Granted i'll never go off road with it.. Still thinking about this one.

So in short TW truck = everything I want but price is highest
Indigo ink truck = scares me because price for less miles
Black truck = sounds about right price for what you get/color I like but no hood and it's an auto.. which I can live with..

Maybe you could talk him into some of the extras for $16,250 if you want any of them. The extras could easily sell for over $2K new. aftermarket tires/wheels ? depends on what, Undercover tonneau $1K, bed mat $119, weathertechs $170 if digital fit $100 if all weather, Clazzios $ 350 leather seat covers.
As for Rough Country I can't find it now but i think chris4x4 said about them something like I don't know what it is but they just don't ride right or feel right.

I'd get the 06 black one if I were you. The 6 speed manual transmissions are known to have the throwout bearing issue...not sure if it was discussed already though. As another member said, you can turn it into a TRD Sport looks wise if you really want that look

For sure don't want to deal with throwout bearing issues.. I hate any bearings... lol
But 6 speeds are easier in snow.. downshift instead of break.
Although, if I got the black one my boyfriend could drive it.....

I may do that.. see if I can at least get the tires/wheels with the stock ones then I could sell to make a little offset if he for sure wont go down on price. Otherwise I may check out the other two and decide. That is if they are still there by the time I get my freakin' money.

Good thing is there is a guy wanting to drive from TN to get my car as well. If he drives out here he's going to have the money. If he sees/drives the car he's going to want the car. So if this guy today flakes out on buying tomorrow i'm sure TN guy will take it.
