Ive looked around and was trying to find out how to lock my front wheels when im in 4wd? im tired of one wheel spinning and the other not is there any kit i could buy to make it locked?

 

Do you have a locker in the rear?

 

You could put an A.R.B. locker in it to lock it up, but then you would need an air compressor to run it and all the air lines ect.

 

I dont think so? i have a 1995 sr5? dont know if it came with one? ive never been behind the truck when im stuck lol

 

you don't have one if its a sr5. Get a rear locker first, front second if you still need more traction.

 

what brands would you recommend? Ive heard of ARB and detroit lockers before

I found this good price? and i know lockers are important i just havnt had the $$ to afford one until now.

 

those are nice, a bit noisy on the street because of the ratchet design bu they work. That one is also not selectable BTW, its automatic.

do not do that. you will destroy tires on the street and the truck will be very difficult to turn in high traction environments.

I repeat, do not weld the spiders on a daily driver.

 

compromised on-road handling. I would only weld up a diff if its a trail only rig. (never will see pavement)

 

Get a good selectable locker, not an automatic.

Unless of course you don't want to spend the money, in which case asking TW for advice is totally useless.

 

Sounds like it would be the cheapest though haha i only have a 5 mile commute daily so would it be all that bad?

There is a big difference between welding the front vs. the back. If you weld the front the only time you will be locked is when you are in 4wd when you are wheeling, not when you are driving on the street.
