So have you noticed a difference after installing the different bulbs? Are they more or less bright? Any noticeable difference in heat generated?

    Thanks!

I made the swap for the GM bulbs a week ago and took before and after pictures. If there is a noticeable brightness difference it is very slight. At the same time I did the DTRL mod using the factory relay and jumper. So far so good but I guess only time will tell.

Where did you get those at? How easy aer they to wire up?
I have my sidemarkers wired to blink with my turn signals. Any idea what the philips would do. since it says they auto turn off when the parking lights are off, would the still turn off, or blink like the turn signals?

I tried to get them on my 2012 not available in the northeast region, I guess it's a crap shoot if they burn and crack maybe i'm better off. My question is why not use the headlites Toyota and depower them like you used to.

Both headlights are melted due to DRLs also, I wrote Toyota about this; here is their reply.: <Thank you for contacting Toyota Motor Sales, U.S.A., Inc.

Yes my truck has 47k miles, but I think Toyota should step up and help.

I just read on a Corvette forum that they have problems with DRL melting the bulb sockets. They use the 5702KA bulbs,,,,,,,,,,

Will someone please tell me what magic power a 4157 bulb has in it that Toyota figured out how to control a dual element bulb in my 2 wire socket. If it was the old way of a grounded socket, I'd get it but with an all plastic housing one wire is the hot side and one is the ground. I think that almost all the problems with melted lenses is on the DRL on all the time trucks with only two wires going to the socket. So far the poll shows that three wire trucks DO NOT have the problem. It is a basic design problem that is being ignored by Toyota.

2009 TRD Sport Just turned over 48k miles and just noticed the running lights have melted! I bought mine from a Nissan dealer used.

I am going to my local dealer and try to reason with them! But I am not to optimistic !

I've got a 2012 and my lenses weren't melted but the had a bad haze to them right where the light beam is projected. It wasn't on the outside because I tried to polish it out. Dealer is covering both headlights under warranty since I only have 33k. Dealer is Brown's Toyota in Glen Burnie , MD.

I just noticed this past weekend when I was washing my 2010 Tacoma that my drivers side DRL lens is starting to bubble just like pictures others have posted. I saw the TSB about it after searching a couple of threads. Problem is I have 47K miles. I figured what have I got to loose. I called the dealership. Since I was out of warranty they had to contact corporate. They called me back the next day. The best they can do for me is replace both headlights with the redesigned ones. I don't pay for the parts for the TSB only the labor. They won't give them to me and let me do the labor. Best price they will give me is $200 for labor. I'm going to take it in on Fri and have them do it. Soon as I have time After I'm going to do the mod I saw on here where you put a switch on the DRL's so I can turn them on and off when I want to. Also searching for a cooler burning bulb. May go with LED not sure yet? Any suggestions on better bulb with no problems welcomed.

My update: OMG! I wasted 3 hours of my life today sitting at Toyota! I took my truck in to have the TSB done. I was told they had the parts in to do it. Since I'm at 47K they are covering the parts I just have to pay $200 for the labor. So after 3 hours they tell me it's finally finished. I paid them then walked out to the parking lot. I looked at the lens. Looked good but didn't really see a difference in the design from before. Then I looked at the paperwork from the work they had done. They had replaced them with the old part numbers 81150-04163 and 81110-04163 instead of the redesigned model that is not supposed to melt as stated in the TSB parts 81150-04200 and 81110-04200. I went inside to complain. First they tried to say that well sometimes when they update a part the part number doesn't update in the computer printout. I told them I don't believe that because I have had a TSB done before and my invoice had correct part numbers on it. Of course the service manager had left for the day but I won't leaving til it got straight! The guy helping me finally went in the back and found the boxes the parts were in and said the part numbers they used were the old parts. He finally admitted it and said he would order the correct parts from the warehouse. They will be here next week. Now I have to spend another afternoon waiting on them to install again! I do have a question though? Where is the part number located on the headlight? Is it where I can pop the hood and look before I leave there next time. I don't want them to just change the number on my invoice and stick me with the same old lens! If anyone knows please let me know. I will try to look this weekend and see if I can find the numbers printed anywhere on the assembly.

My update: I just got back from Toyota. They changed out the new old design headlights and put on the new redesigned ones they should have when I took it in last time. They apologized for the mix up. Without having the old ones side by side to compare I really can't tell a difference in the look of the redesigned ones. I know they put the right parts on though because they took me back and showed me the part numbers on the boxes when they were opening them and putting them on. Amazingly it only took them an hour to do it this time instead of 3 hours. When I got home I changed out the bulbs for the GMC 5702KA bulbs I bought. Next mod I'm doing when I have time one afternoon is the Day time running lights switch mod!
