    Hey All,

Seems most Taco's had performed the leaf spring TSB, or plan to, but was wondering how common the Steering TSB is.

I have noticed a slight looseness/clank when going over speed bumps. I have not yet seen any dirt, so I don't know how bad it really is offroad.

Please provide reasons for getting the Steering TSB if performed, and the result (i.e. solid feeling steering, etc.).

    Thanks.

I had it done right after I got my 2011. Going over train tracks or bumpy roads it felt like someone left a bolt loose and the steering wheel would wiggle. They replaced the intermediate shaft between wheel and floor inside the truck and bam it came back perfect loose feeling was gone and its way tighter no sloppy feeling.

Good stuff guys. I have the TSB that goes up to 2010, but does not include the 2011. Sheppymach, do you have an updated TSB that includes 2011 Tacos?

I just had mine done this week. I have a 2009 and wanted to get it done before my warranty expired. It is so much more solid feeling now. No more rattle feel going over bumpy roads. I wish I had it done sooner.

Had mine done last month on my 2011. Steering is a bit tighter now and most importantly, no more rattle.

Had mine done a few months ago. It was making clunking noise that could be felt in the steering column when driving over bumpy or washboard roads. There was a lot of up & down play in the intermediate shaft & the rubber bushing in the firewall the shaft passed through was torn.

Even if its not covered its under $200 and anyone can do it. Its real easy. After the idiots installed it I picked it up & the steering wheel was off center. I went right back to have them align it & they said it would have to be left overnight. I took it home loosened the lower bolt, duct taped steering wheel to dash (so it wouldnt spin all the way around) slid out the splined part and rotated it 1 tooth and slid it back up tightened up the lower bolts & test drove. I had to do it a second time since 1 tooth wasnt enough but It was easy.

Took my 2009 in to have this done after seeing that there was a TSB out for it now. I mentioned it to the Dealership 2 years ago when I first noticed the issue and they said they couldn't find anything. So after seeing this TSB, I was hopeful they would fix it now even though I was 2 weeks out of warranty. They ended up telling me that this TSB is no longer relevant and that Toyota discontinued it for some reason. They also said the rattling was because my skid plate bolts were loose (I had taken it off 2 weeks prior for differential fluid replacement) and its fixed now. I reminded them that I complained about it two years ago, but they just stuck to their "not a TSB anymore" story. Thankfully they didn't charge me a dime, and after reading others say the TSB didn't actually fix the issue, I figure its not worth arguing over since they could just say I'm out of warranty. I'll just use one of the DIY fixes if it bothers me too much. Just thought I'd share...
