I did it again. Got tired of paying truck payments and gas and traded in for a 2015 Honda Accord Sport since I enjoyed my 2013 Sport so much.
I thought I would run this by you guys first before commiting to anything.

Got a local dealer selling a silver 2011 Toyota Tacoma 4x4 TRD Off Road with Tow package and 15,000 miles. Online price was $31,888. I offered $28,500 just for kicks and was surprised they accepted it.

Shit forgot to mention DCSB with auto transmission.

Did I offer too high? It is a CPO vehicle but when I get online to configure one I find that I can't select a CPO option. Maybe these trucks are still too new to be CPO.

Would you just take this vehicle for $28,500 or should I knock it down a bit more.

Doesn't sound like a bad price. If or when you go to the dealer to talk numbers or just check the truck out, always try and get more off. Overall though sounds good. Good luck

I figured it was a fair price...I had configured identical vehicles on Truecar/KBB/Edmunds, and they all had numbers of $30,500+ for band new trucks.

This dealership has left a bad taste in my mouth the past several times I've been there so when they accepted my first offer it kinda makes me uneasy.

Double cab / Access Cab. Short bed / Long bed. Auto / Stick. That price honestly seems high to me. I paid out the door 24,500 for my 2010 4X4 TRD Sport DCSB 6 speed. Including that crappy maintenance thing to 45,000 miles. The original owner probably paid what you offered, and they probably gave him like 23,000 to trade it. Trust me used cars is where dealers really rip most people off. Try your luck on trying to get a brand new for that price. I did everything through internet sales.

That's another thing; I'm not sure how you guys are paying 28-29k for brand new vehicles when all the numbers I'm seeing on the car broker websites (overstock, Edmunds, Truecar, etc) have numbers that start with "3". Don't get me wrong it's impressive and i feel kinda foolish for going by what those websites put out.

That, and I've heard of stories of people getting more for their truck on trade in than what they paid for it, due to this crazy used car market and how good the resale value is on Toyota trucks.

That does seem a bit high for a used 2011 vehicle with 15K already on it. Of course location has a lot to do with vehicle values and perhaps TX is on the higher side than us on the other end of I35.

I think it all depends on Location. Blue Book as close as possible and go from that. Generally the options don't make a HUGE difference.

This is pissing me off. I did go to all the auto broker sites and they're quoting $30,500+ for new 2011s. Are we not supposed to trust those websites anymore?

Very possible. It could be that there just aren't as many 4x4s in Texas as people are brainwashed into believing no snow = no need for 4x4.

I bought brand new 11 silver dclb 4x4 automatic the day after thanksgiving last year for 29200. I think that's a little high. Think about it this way. For probably 2000 more you could buy new one with 0 miles plus a year newer which means higher resale value than 2011. Just my two cents.
