I went out and bought a Cobra nightwatch CB radio along with a 39 1/2 magnetic antenna and i also have a PA. I am confused on how to hook up the cb radio to the truck. I also want to know if i should mount the cb radio in a hidden spot or a spot where everyone can almost see it, my dad said i should hide it when im parked in a parking lot so people dont break in. I have a place already where i wanted to mount it but now im second guessing on where i should put it. Please give me some tips on how to hook it up and where to put it.

I don't know much about CB radios but I have seen a couple of folks install it in the center console.

Seeing the third gen section forced me to get a Ford...
to run the power and ground, go throught the rubber around the grouping of wires under the drivers side dash.....to get the coax from the bed to the cab, run it down the frame, pop out one of the rubber grommets under the seats, hollow it out, stick the coax through it, and run the coax under the carpet to the door jam cable try, then run that to the dash, and take it behind the dash to wherever....or if ur gonna do it around the center console, u might be able to skip the last steps depending on cb placement

for my Sirius radio antenna (mounted on the roof) I stuck the wire in the weather stripping on the top of the windshield then down the side of the WS and then got through the door jam and into my dash to get into the "cubby"

I think thats how i did it :D

mine's been fine. u might be able to do the mod to run the coax through the brake light like others have done for sat radio cables, run it behind the rear seats, and under the carpet/door jam to wherever ur mounting it.

all i did was get an in line fuse from auto zone for a few $, wire it between the cb and the battery, and run the ground out the firewall to the ground that the fuse box hooks up to in the engine compartment on the drivers side. all i did w/ mine and i have no issues

I think the biggest problem for me wiring it thru out the truck, by the way where did you mount your Cb?

thats the same awsome CB that i have...

i mounted my CB in the rear passenger cup holder area using a dremel and fine file to cut the area out.

ran the cable under the brake light assembly rather than going through the sliding glass

i love it really, and it's been around for going on 7 years now with no issues. one of the main reasons why i bought it the first place was the fact that you can set and calibrate the CB and the antenna with the built in SWR meter. and it has weather channels and a backlight display.
