Got my tire gate. Now I'm riding in a tow truck cuz either my alternator decided to act stupid or bad connection at the battery. Either way, didn't want to break down again. Truck wouldn't even turn over, but now I can crank and it runs fine. Don't want to take a chance to get stranded again and aaa is paying for the towing. Will figure it out tomorrow or during the week

it started out that my abs and ebrake light came on. and my lights started to dim on the dash. i thought it was alternator. pulled off at a gas station in emporia va and saw my voltmeter under the hood showed 11 volts and blanking in and out and wouldnt crank at all. called AAA since i figured i would be replacing alternator. well while waiting i dicked around with teh wires to the battery and noticed 12.5 volts on my meter. so tried cranking it again and it worked. still had it towed to the house since i didnt want to have something else pop up. my odo rolled over to 30,000 miles and ended with 30,001 when the tow truck picked it up. i dont think i have anything wrong with the truck anymore. prolly just need to clean up my battery terminals or tighten them down

Those electrical problems can be tricky. Hopefully its a bad connection or alternator but if its a ground in your system, you can kiss the rest of the weekend goodbuy.

Trust me I know. I'm an electrician on the apache. Right now it's fine and works like nothin'. Don't think the altenator is bad because the battery wasn't putting out voltage and o.ce it was everything was fine. Battery never lost its charge so the alt was charging it the whole time. I think it's just corrosion or loose connection on the battery. Everything worked ok once I moved the terminals

Hmm, maybe im wrong (no expert) but bad battery connectors shouldnt affect your truck once its running. Sounds to me (again, no expert) that you have a short that comes and goes. Probably a poorly insulated wire bouncing around .

Whatever it is, looks like its right up your ally :D.
