Kinda odd he didn't post it in the Texas area... apparantly we have a lot of Texas members who are not over in this area.

On a brighter note; I've been wearing out the wire this morning repairing the mower deck on my old push mower. The motor is a beast, but the hard and unlevel ground around my house really beat the deck up and busted out one of the mounting holes. So today I used a short end of a flat bar and cut out the bad area and repaired it with a fish plate. I did remember to drill the bolt hole in the flat bar before I welded it in first though. Now I'm about to go into Lowe's and get another blade since the old one got wrapped around the shaft.

I love the smells of a busy shop... grinder dust, welding fumes, and some rock n roll on the radio.

I will second the smell of a working shop. My garage has smelled the same with some welding and grinding going on to make a bed mounted tire carrier.

Good luck with it. Will your work help pay for it or will you need to find scholarships/grants? I got my VA letter in the mail yesterday that said I have another 18 months of college covered at 100%. That is about perfect because that is about how long I have left.

Just turned it on. I've been keeping an eye on it off and on at MLB.com but I figured I could brave watching again tonight. Last night was too much for me.

If you can keep yourself focused on the classes; online will let you be a full time student and keep working. I'm working 40-50 hour work weeks (easily) and still doing 12 hours a semester. I'm trying to talk DeVry into letting me bump it up to 18 hours a semester for a couple of semesters.

Tarleton does have a lot of their classes online. One of the dept managers at the hospital is getting his masters online there.

If you go with a CS degree I bet we have a couple guys here who could help out if you needed it.

    Understandable.

I'd be careful with the generic CS degree. I would look to get specific training and experience in a specialized area. Wireless, mobile technologies, app development, and Java programming are pretty big and are only growing. Oddly enough, programming is really fragmenting out into traditional programs and mobile apps. The apps are getting huge too!

If you go towards the IT field you are going to have to have a broad base under you. A good place to start is check and see what skills are bringing top dollar on the job websites; then narrow down the list into skills you are interested in and ones you are not. While I have no deep interest in databases I still have a good working knowledge of them.

If I had the spare time right now I would be studying mobile app development. As futures go; that field is just getting started and has yet to fully expand to capacity.
