WooHooo! First Post! Very easy. My soldering iron did not have a fine point and I was afraid I was going to burn the resistor. I "tinned" and loaded the tip, touched the contact, and brought in more solder to the tip. Works!

So i feel like this is kind of a silly question, but does anyone have a picture of what im soldering or can someone describe what it is that i need to solder? Mine isn't working so i have it all taken apart and just need to know what it is that needs to be soldered.

Removed mud flaps, plasti dip door badges, removed the rest, plasti dipped stereo council as well as shifter council, tailgate lock (hose clamp)
That's exactly what mine was doing before it finally went out. It just recently went out again so looks like I'm soldering for a second time

Mine went out a few weeks ago, found this thread.

My 510's didn't look disconnected or messed up. I also had the burn mark on the LCD.

I gave it a try anyways and it worked. How long, I do not know.

While I had the console down, I popped the map light covers off and put in LED's. A good combo mod/fix if its on the list.

I imagine that's about all it needs in most cases. It was for me anyway. I do have to ask what people are using to see that the solder has come loose? A microscope. All I saw was some oxidation on the resistor's solder joints. Brushed it away with new toothbrush, put it back together and it worked. I wouldn't worry about the hot days. Doubt very seriously that the heat from overhead could deteriorate a solder joint. Anywho, thanks to the OP for instructions on how to take apart and put back.

Replace tweeters for Subaru plug n play kickers. Also replace front and back speakers with kickers. Added a Kenwood KSC-PSW8 250W Max (150W RMS) Single 8" Under Seat Powered Subwoofer Enclosure W/Remote Control. I went with Kenwood because it’s the same as JVC but cheaper.K&N reusable filters for engine & cabin

Thanks fot the tip. I just encounter that problem. It was an easy fix I had a reading glasses repair kit. I simply grab my lighter heated the tip of the flat screw driver. once it got red I place it on the "510" and easy fix I did not have to spend money.

Again Tacoma World comes through with flying colors. Since the temp was just about freezing this morning I warmed my truck up to first keep me warm and then to warm the plastic up a bit and went at it. Took it down and then inside for 10mins then back out to test and install. Works perfectly. The 510 resistors are flat small rectangular resistors that are clearly labeled "510."

Tacomaworld rocks! Overhead temp/ compass stopped working...no cracks visible on the 510 resistors. Bought micro solder gun. Re soldered it anyways...good as new. $15 well spent. Only casualty is a burnt finger...soldering guns get HOT:D
