Anyone ever use hgh? I got my new tub of protein in the mail the other day and there was an ad for applied neutricuticals(sp?) hghup. Is this stuff bad for you? I read up on it and it said while taking it you need 1 gram of protein per lb of weight and 1.5 grams of carbs per lb. it's just pills. You take 3 in the morning and 2 later on during the day.

I personally would not take it. Just my own personal opinion, I do not like testosterone boosters or anything that claims to increase muscle cells. I just think they would hurt your body in the long run. Is the gain at the beginning as important as the possible effects down the road? Just my opinion

    True.
I don't know much about this stuff. But i'm not looking to increase test. Only thing I take is protein and not even on a regular basis. I'm 6'1 and about 190. Looking to gain maybe another 10-15 pounds and then start toning up a lot. Just thought this might help me get a little stronger and some size.

I don't have a meal plan. It's hard with my schedule. I basically just try to eat as healthy as possible but I do eat fast food probably 8 times a week. Whenever I do though I try to get whatever seems to be the healthiest. I know my goals are a lot harder to obtain because of my diet but I guess I look ok given what I eat.

So guys, right now im on the bike in the gym.
All the running from PT for the ROTC has made me lose a good 10 lbs, and im trying to gain it back buut improve my run time as well.
I've changed my diet and bought new shoes to help with my shin splints.

    I was wondering 2 things
What do you guys think would help me gain some weight but keep my run time down?
    and
how much do you guys think cycling helps running? I run every mon/wed/fri for PT, and try to cycled every day I don't run, to try to keep the shin splints at bay

Edit: our runs are anywhere from 3 to 6 miles, and when I cycle I keep it at 90-100 rpm for 40 mins

First of all i dont think trying to gain weight is a good idea for your situation. I am going off the fact that you said Rotc.. so guessing army right? well if bootcamp is in your near future you will loose what ever muscle you try to put on. Second if you need to work on getting a faster run time which will benefit you in bootcamp(trust me) more muscle or weight could cause the oposite to happen. I would continue running like you are and maybe mix up your running distance and style... like one day do some HIIT(high intensity interval training) on a treadmill. Start with a 3 minute warm up then alternate 2 minute fast pace with one minute cool down. Try for at least 6 your first time and if you need to add more cool down go ahead. Mine looks like this 3min warm up 6.5mph 2minute 8.5mph 1minute 6.5mph repeate interval. Lastly stretching is really important. Stretch before after and any chance you get. If your shins still hurt try getting down on both knees place your feet flat on the floor(bottoms of your feet up) and sit on your heels. This will probably hurt at first but should help with shin splints espically when running in boots.

we mix up the run intensities, from long runs to 400-800m intervals to beach runs; just trying to see how much cross training with cycling will work.

Not trying to bulk up or anything but I got it to the point where I can max out on the run, so I'm looking to gain a little strength back. Hard to fireman carry a 180 lb battle buddy when you yourself are at a lean 146

never tried that stretch for the shin splints though, think I'll start doing that
