Hello TW, I have a predicament and maybe someone here can shed some light. As the tile says my spare is missing and I am not certain how it happened. The truck was parked at the marina yesterday, while I was out fishing. After getting back and making the trip back home the TMPS light on the dash came on. I thought I had a puncture, after pulling over and checking nothing seemed wrong so I made it home. Once home I checked again and nothing, so I wandered underneath the truck to check the spare and it was gone!! At first I thought it fell off the mount, because I went through a rough road, which was very bouncy, so I made the trip back to the marina and looked for it..no luck. Then I started thinking maybe it was stolen , but the cable is not cut. So WTH happened to my spare. Can it just fall off?? The distance between the mount and the frame is the same width as the spare would be and if this is the case there is a huge design flaw with the mount. Did some ahole steel it? Probably the latter and it is driving me nuts and I am livid at the thought of it. What are my options here and how much is this going to cost me to replace. Thanks in advance.

I had a buddies spare tire lift cable break and drop his spare on the interstate then he ran over the spare with his airboat trailer. It lifted the boat and trailer in the air and came down hard, but no harm done.

You would know if it fell off while driving! Since the light came on, it was removed just before that location!

There's a TPMS sensor in the spare? Awesome.

Sorry to hear about your loss, OP.

You must have a dishonest tacoma owner in the area . Sounds to me like it was taken off and they raised the hanger back up so u wouldnt see it or hear it dragging when u left. I knew a guy that use to take ppls spare tires till he had eneough to replace his wore out tires on his chevy:mad: as far as i know hes still doing it.

You know a guy that does this and you haven't reported it to the authorities?

Knowledge about a crime and not reporting it is, in fact, a crime in itself. Report that asshat.

Yes I am sure the spare was there before, the TMPS light would have come on if I lost it before then.

That sucks, glad no harm was done. The cable in my truck looks fine and it is still attached.

There's no sensor on the spare... at least, I seriously doubt it's active/used. Anyone care to confirm/deny?

The funny thing is the light didn't come on when I was leaving the parking lot, where I would assumed someone had plenty of time to steel it. It came on when I was on the highway heading home. That is why I assumed it fell off and yes I would have know if that happened, because the traffic behind me.
