I don't know if this is the right place for this question or not. There is no thread for transmition or drive line. Ok, When I roll up to a stop light, randomly, after I stop, the truck lerches forward just a little bit. its gentle, but it feels like the truck trys to shift down after I have came to a stop. It weird. sometimes I can barley notice it, but lately it's more of a clunk/thud. I only have 33k on the truck. Any Ideas before I take it to the dealer?

The auto tranny wont downshift into first until you come to a stop, or give it more than 75% throttle when going below 20 mph. If its makeing a "Clunk" noise, sounds like you have some slop in a "U" joint, or in the rear end. If thats the case, take it in and let them fix it.

When it 'lurches' - do you notice an increase in the RPM's?

The Automatics are known to do that. They downshift after you come to a stop (As Chris mentioned). Mine - if I'm sitting in a fast food joint drive-thru for too long at idle, I can actually see my rpm's going back-n-forth without doing anything. Weird...but nothing alarming (to me anyway).

If you have a 'clunk' - that's a different story. Since you have a lift on your truck, have you been getting any driveline vibrations?

For starters - with the truck in park (and off), crawl underneath and grab the driveshaft and rotate it. Does it move at all?

    Are you still under warrantee?

Is the AC on? When the AC compressor engages it will rev up a bit. If I'm going to be at a stop light for any length of time I put my truck in neutral. Something I have recently noticed with my truck is some slight play in the rear driveshaft slip joint? I'm not sure what to call it, where the rubber boot is over the splined shaft, just after the carrier bearing. This slight play causes a "clunk" sometimes for me.

Well, I am at 33k. The power train is covered till 60k if I am right. Now I have been told that with the bigger tires on, that will mess with my warenty, but I think that is crap. No A/C on. I don't think I have ever used my A/C. I have not noticed if the RPM goes up or not. I figured that the down shift at a stop was normal. But in the last two weeks it has done the clunk thing maybe 5 times now. It's not bad at all, just enough to make me think "Well what the heck was that?" Oh, and I have never had the drive line shimmy due to the lift. So far I have been one of the lucky one that don't have it. Always smooth. The rear end is only lifted 2''. On the way to work today and at luch I tried to get it to do it, but hasn't yet today. This weekend I will climb under it and see if I can get some play out of the driveline and joints. Thanks for the input, I know it's not just me now. Any more input would be great!:D

My 05 DC 2WD does the same exact thing. There is no change in the RPM's when it occurs. Not in my case anyway. I've got 62K on the truck. Bought it with 50K and have noticed it ever since I've had it.
It did it before I had the lift installed as well.

Wow! after looking at the other thread, it seems like a lot of people have experianced what I am talking about. When it does the gental version it just moves the truck a bit. If you had the breaks pressed a little more than normal the truck would not move at all. But when it does the more clunky one, it almost feels like someone rear ends me just a little bit. Like a little tap on the bumper. Im still going to check my drive line this week end, but it sounds pretty normal from all the people writeing in.

Well got under it and looked at the whole drive line. Everything seems rock solid. there was a little play at the carrier bearing, as in the rubber seal gives a little, everything felt tight, but thats normal right?

Play at the carier bearing should be about 1/2" when moveing it by hand. :)

My 05 does the auto lurch. The RPMs do increase. The scanguare shows upper 500's at idle and the goes to the upper 700's so about an increase of 200 rpms. However I don't get any clunk, just the axel wrap "thud" when I let off the brakes.

So now it is doing clunk thing as I come to a stop, stopped, and as I let off the breaks to start moveing again. Is it axle wrap? Are my breaks not engageing and disengageing at the same time? Or is it the tranny/diff?

Maybe Im just picky, but I don't like things feeling loose on my ride. Im going to reaserch more, but if it is axle wrap, Im going to spend the $500 on the Pro Comp traction bars.

I have a 2010 Auto TRD Sport. I too feel this bump when I park, it sucks because it often gives a jerk forward, even after come to a stop, 5 secs later and bump!
Having issues with low speed. I have 35mph for miles to get home in up and down road and tramsmition shift like crazy, jerk back and forward.
    It really sucks!
Took to the dealer, they did a computer flush and update, guess what?
    Nothing, same problem is there.
Love the truck otherwise but this is frustrating...
Don't know what to do next. Any ideas???
