Opinions?

I got a new 2011 Tacoma over the weekend, and have noticed when I come out to get in it every morning the inside of the windshield and all the windows are fogged. It doesn't take long at all for them to clear, just concerns me because the only time I have seen this happen is if there is a leak, and I hope my 2 day old truck doesn't have one! What do you guys think it could be?

 

I'm curious too, I have the same exact problem. Accept I have a lot of extra wires that I ran with the factory wires through the firewall, I thought I created a leak there all this time.

 

Maybe you left a window open a lil?

 

No I checked that, all the windows are closed, and I have a solid back window so the slider isn't open.

 

When you breath in a warm car, it causes an increase in humidity. After you park it, the air temperature falls, and condensation forms against the cold glass surfaces. This is totally normal and just a part of the season.

I know in southern Louisiana, my windows fog up.. .doesn't matter what car it is.

 

That sucksss! I haven't noticed that in any other vehicle I owned. But if that's the nature of the beast, I guess that's the way it is. Thanks guys!

 

yeah i live in southern louisiana and this time of the year its starting to get a lil cold outside...just that time of year gotta make me a little hole to see through till it clears up because i leave in a hurry every morning haha

 

While I am no expert, I believe that the angle/slope of 2nd generation Tacoma windshield lends itself to fogging. The more vertical the windhield is, the less you see fogging or frosting in cooler weather. I have noticed fogging at the bottom of my 2011 as well in the morning. So it is the nature of the truck and not a seal failure.

You might also want to try. Running the AC with it on heat to help dry the air out. My buddy has had great success with this in His 2010 Ram. Had the same problem, with excess moisture on the inside of his windshield.

 

Setting your truck to defrost or defrost + feet automatically cycles the AC on and off to pull moisture from the air.
It also will 'reset' the air circulation to the fresh outside air setting automatically after a while even if you press the re-circulation button.

I live in Oregon, it's pretty wet here too, and the inside of my truck is never fogged, ever. I do however leave the heater on the defrost + feet setting almost all the time with the fan on low.

 

Mine is fogged almost every morning, the jeep parked next to it has less problems. I suspect it is due to the high quality of the door seals.

So, last night I drove around for about 40 minutes with the heat full blast on feet, and then parked it for the night on the feet + defrost setting. When I got up in the morning, no fog!!

I suspect that either people were getting in and out of it with wet feet at the dealership, or maybe they left the window open and it got a little wet, but I think I dried it up.

I'll let you guys know if the fog comes back within the next couple of days. It may also only happen when it rains, which it didn't last night. We'll see!

 

Maybe want to try something like Damp Rid. It is sold at places like Wal Mart, usually for basements or closets. I've never tried it in a vehicle, but I assume it would help.
