I'm new to this post, but have been on the site often. I have a 2011 4 cyl. reg cab 4x4 Taco; bought it last Feb. and LOVE it! I'm thinking of upgrading the shocks soon. I have been reading on the forum about billstein 5100,s and was wondering if anyone can offer me advice on good shock upgrades. Will I need a lift? New rear springs too? Coil overs? Or can I get away with just a shock upgarde. It's my primary vehicle and I use it for both on and off road driving. Thanks ahead of time.

 First welcome to TW from Sparks, NV :taco:
The suspension forum would be the place to ask this question. PM a mod and ask to have it moved.
5100s all around would give you a better ride.
No you would not have to lift it.
Do you want it lifted at some point in time?
If so I would say wait untill you can afford to do it all (shocks & springs).
Do some research in the suspension forum http://www.tacomaworld.com/forum/suspension/
and check out other peoples builds http://www.tacomaworld.com/forum/2nd-gen-builds/
to get an idea of what you might want to do.
A link to my build is right above my signature pic

Ya if your budget is very limited those are good options.

If you have a bit more money get Icon coilovers for front, and Icon AAL and new (Icon)shocks for the rear. Will get 2-3 inches of lift. This will allow you to fit 255/85R16's for a good looking/performing truck. Ride 10x better than what billsteins will get you as well.
