Intermediate Tread tires

I am sure someone has asked this before...but i'm too lazy to look myself. That aside, im looking for a good intermediate tread tire, BFG Rugged trail for example. Just curious as to whos used what and your opinions. I appreciate it

Intermediate tread tires... sounds pretty self-explanatory to me.

Thanks for the the post with all the tires, I was more looking for peoples individual opinions towards the tires they use, but that's a good place to start.

 

If you state your usage (highway, gravel roads, off road) and driving conditions (snow, rain, sand, mud, etc) then people would be able to provide much better advice. Intermediate tread tires is way too vague for people to comment on.

Intermediate tire, like i said, a BFG rugged trial is a good example, I drive in gravel mud snow rain asphalt concrete. Im looking for a tire that will last 30000 miles not howl like a banshee, cleans out well, isnt a piece of crap in the rain. And wont cost me my first born child. Better?

A little better. It sounds like you want an All Terrain tire and pretty much all of them will last 30k miles, that's not a big feat for tires these days. Check out Cooper AT3's, Hankook Dynapro ATM, Yokohama Geolander A/T or Toyo Open Country All-Terrains. If you want a higher mileage tire, Michelin makes an A/T tire that's nice and quiet but a bit pricey. There are better options than the Rugged Trails in my opinion depending on what type of surface you primarily drive in. I'll see all of the surfaces you described throughout the year but I wouldn't buy a mud tire for the 2x a year I might go through something slick and greasy.

 

I had some 33x12.5'' Cooper STT's on both of my last 2 jeeps and they where just as quiet as a BFG AT in my opinion. I could run 80-85mph with a soft top and you never noticed them at all while driving and where amazing off road. I've had the old style BFG mud terrains before and they where crazy loud. To me the Cooper STT is like a hybrid of a mud terrain and an all terrain. I'd either go STT or BFG AT for something your gonna daily drive. They both have good road maners.

edit: would like to note I've never drove in snow. I live in the south so thats just mud, rain, sand, and pavement.

 

i would recommend the duratracs. they are a good aggressive all-terrain tire. seems like something u are looking for.

I had a set of BFG MT KM2's and they honestly wasn't noisy. Most likely what is going on my new truck when the rugged fails wears out.
