Looking into getting a spring that will level the truck without having to preload it. I've already got the 5100's on the truck. I have them set at .85 and I like the look just not the fact I've got to preload the springs. I want a better ride quality/lift while keeping the Billies at 0. I'm looking at the OME 884's but I've seen two different measurements for the lift anywhere from 1" to 2" both are acceptable. Rear TSB has already been completed.

Any help would be appreciated. Also any knowledge of the pros/cons of this setup also. TIA.

OME 885's w/ out armor. 886 w/ armor. You are a DC 4x4 so you've already got some weight up front.

Not for 1 - 2" of lift! The 885's on an unarmored DCSB would still put you over 2" of lift and only use the 886's if you're using a heavy plate bumper and a winch. The 886's are meant for 200+ lbs hanging over the front end and still maintaining 3" of lift.

If you only want a mild lift <2", go with the 884's or Eibach coils. Eibachs will be 1.6" and 884's will be right around 2" for a double cab short bed.

I'm still new to all this lift stuff and in the process of figuring out what I want, but what about OME 883's? Toytec says they give about 1 1/2 inches of lift.

I could be wrong but I don't believe the 883's will work on the 2nd Gen. For 1-1/2" of lift look at Eibach coils, 884's or something like Zac has for sale, basically short spacers.

Thanks guys. Looks like I'll be picking a pair of 884's up. Anyone know of any specials?

Thank you sir. Looks like a good deal on the forum sale. But I'd rather buy new for something like this. Bought my 5100's from DSM so that's probably who I'll go through. Thanks again guys.

Does anyone know of any issues with this set up? I want to make sure I don't have a chance for shock top out or any other failures.

You should not have any issues with 884's on 5100's. 5100's are a stock length shock and valved to handle the higher spring rate (I don't top them out with my Eibachs and they're stiffer than the 884's). Technically OME and Bilstein recommends you use their coils with their shocks and don't mix and match however many have done this and I have yet to hear of any issues. The only issue I've heard is when matching 886 coils with 5100s. The 886's are a bit too stiff for the 5100's so they aren't a great match. With 884's you're good to go. For your own piece of mind, talk to the guys at Downsouth Motorsports. They're very knowledgeable and have a great reputation on this site!

Guys, I've got a question. I know it was stated earlier that I would need a heavier coil for a plate bumper and winch. Would I need to go heavier when I put my skids and sliders on?

Kind of depends on how much armor you're talking about adding. If you go full bud builts or something similar that is very stout, then maybe Eibachs or 885's would be a better option. Eibach's are nice for a mild 1.6" lift but have a higher spring rate than the OME's. 885's are the same spring rate as the 884's, just a taller coil. How much weight are you thinking about adding, 885's might still make you taller than you want to be?

Also, keep in mind skids get transferred to both the front and rear wheels where as a plate bumper and a winch are heavy loads planted well in front of the front wheels. A front plate bumper and winch will make the front end sag much more than an equivilent weight in skid plates.

886 coils will cover the plate bumper and winch. The skids and sliders are spread out so the weight is not going to overloading the front shocks.

I'm looking into getting a full set of BudBuilt skids and the 4x Innovations sliders. I'm doing this piece by piece and figured it would be a good idea to get the suspension upgraded first.

I'd consider the Eibach coils. They're heavier than the OME's and will give you 1.6" lift and won't squat much even with skids. If sometime down the road you decide you've added too much weight and you want the front higher, just kick the 5100's up to the .85 setting and you're good to go! You could also do the same with 884's although I've heard mixed reviews about preloading OME coils. The 885's will put you around the 2.5" lift unloaded and might settle a little with skids but I'm not sure if you'll get them down to 2" of lift.
