what is the phsyical different from the pre runner and the lower 2wd.

I know the prerrunner has the 4wd wheels and rear axle but talking about front suspension, are the frames the same.

i have a 06 2wd, i like the prerunner and I like my 2wd but no sense selling and getting a prerunner because my 2wd is paid off and a use worn out prerunner are still 20k

thinking: maybe junkyard front end let me run bigger tire. would it even bolt up to frame.

dont need a 4wd, I have and 85 fwd sitting at the house

The pre runners have the 4x4 suspension versus the smaller base 2wd suspension (5 lug vs 6 lug is another set of terms you'll hear)

Just swap that shit out, for the 6 lug stuff. Prob a different rear end, but the front is almost similar. Your rear suspension leaf pack is under the axle, as opposed to on top. Less leafs, Your front suspension is weaker, i would assume smaller brakes given its a 4cy. Get a flip kit for the rear, and buy some used leafs, or new leaf pack, new shocks and your good. Oh with the trd and sport package, they come with a locker or lsd, you can add your own locker since your pretty much open diff.

    LOL

Having owned both, the 5lug and now 6lug, the suspension is WAY different, hell even the front subframe is different. 6lug shocks wont fit 5lug.

If you want better fuel economy, dont care how silly the 5lug looks with the small leafs and dont go off road further than dirt road, get the 5lug...

For those who say just get 5lug and lift it with FatBob's kit, having done that its bad idea the ride will suffer a LOT with spacer lift...

The OP had a fairly legit question, can a 2wd front end be swapped out with Prerunner parts, but then 05sctaco swooped in unexpectedly and derped it up like a seasoned professional.

wow, my bad, failed on the front. Not that it wouldn't cost a lot of money to make it possible. But the rear, you can regear, lock it, or just get a whole new rear end.

Oh good, someone deleted my earlier post. I was hoping for that. At least it got quoted first.

Here, I'll use correct spelling this time.....................SERIOUSLY, go trade the 5 lug in on a used prerunner if that's what you want and save yourself a bunch of time, money & headaches.

    Better?????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????
