My hvac directional backlight quit working and after doing some research here was able to reseat the fuse and bulb and voila it now works. Same day I realize that foglight switch backlight quit working, wasn't really sure if it was originally lit but after a call to a friend confirmed indeed they are back or internally lit. Went back and reseated fuses with no success. Any ideas out there?

    Thanks in advance, kwelklin

There's an LED inside the switch (self contained), if your fog lights still work when they're supposed to then it's likely that the LED inside the switch just went out. It is coincidental that it went out when you had a problem with the HVAC LED's but if everything works as it should, then the problem is the LED within the switch.

just fyi the bulbs inside hvac and fog light switches are all incandescent bulbs. I'm looking to replace them with LEDs, but radio shack didn't have any 12v that size the first time. Thanks for the link!

I think i found the right ones on oznium.com I'm gonna order them and see if they work. I looked at reviews on the bulb and people with corollas and xBs did the swap on their HVAC. I'll get back to you guys on wether they work or not sometime towards the end of the week when i get them.

News to me, I just found out its an incadescent. I figured being that small it'd have to be an LED...

Got the LEDs from Oznium today and they were a perfect fit! They were not only the LEDs but also came mounted on the plastic bases that plug into the switch/HVAC panel. I ordered 3 blue ones(1 for the switch, 2 for HVAC panel) and the switch lights up fine but i think i'll have to do the HVAC color change mod to make those work. I'll keep you posted.

*Correction* I don't know why but i thought i remebered the the light in the switch being being the same size as the ones in the HVAC but, it is much smaller so now the search is back on! here is a picture of the original foglight swith lamp and the new LED one that worked in the HVAC panel.mail.jpg

Nope! those ones only worked for the 2 main LEDs in the HVAC panel. The one light in the switch is a lot smaller. I ordered a 3 mm LED from superbrightLEDs. If those work, i'll post the link.

Replace tweeters for Subaru plug n play kickers. Also replace front and back speakers with kickers. Added a Kenwood KSC-PSW8 250W Max (150W RMS) Single 8" Under Seat Powered Subwoofer Enclosure W/Remote Control. I went with Kenwood because it’s the same as JVC but cheaper.K&N reusable filters for engine & cabin

I pay $3 only at toyota dealer I coulnt find the bulb at Pep boys. Toyota dealer is your best bed and do it yourself.

Be careful putting the switches back in the dash. The light in my fog switch has been out for two years. I was trying to help another member here with a project and pulled the switch out to look at how it was wired. While I had it out I saw how to change the bulb. Pulled the bulb, looked okay. Swapped it with the bulb from my locker switch. Pushed the now lit switch back into the dash with the dash lights on, instantly blew the bulb. Now I need two bulbs. Don't know if it was the force of snapping it back in, or the fact that the light was on when I did it, but they are definitely fragile.
