Just started running regularly again about a month ago, plus a low-calorie diet. I'm a bigger guy so it comes off quick. We weigh in at work on the warehouse scale and I was down 16 lbs as of today.

So yesterday I was talking to the trainers that are teaching the police academy fitness program here (www.phoenixtrainingstudios.com) at the academy that I am attending. I told them I am looking to gain weight but maintain my fitness level, endurance and cardio fitness. I went on to explain how weight gain diets of 5500 calories don't cut it for me.

The trainers were a male and a female, both suggested creatine. I have never used creatine, never had the desire to. Now I have 2 trainers telling me I should look into it for weight and strength gains.

    Bro science?

Thoughts on the plausibility of their statements, and proof to back up your comments.

    Thanks.

I can only speak from personal experience on this issue, so take what I know with a grain of salt. Background: I was a strong baseball prospect in my youth. Lefty pitcher that could throw ~80 mph at 16... Over time, I developed tendonitis and have kind of have been dealing with that in both of
    my elbows since then.

Fast forward to today and pre-August shoulder blowout... I was lifting and not getting any results. Someone directed me towards Creatine and so I figured hell, I'll give it a shot. I ran it for about a month with no gains. The only ting that I could attribute to the creatine was the fact that I found that my tendons would really burn during my lifts and would be tender for a while after I got done. When I got off of it for a while, the tendon burning went away. Not sure if it can be attributed, but it seemed to be correlated as far as I am concerned. This all coming from the guy who has taken just about everything supplement-wise that can be taken that is non-hormonal and has seen very little results. (Starting Crossfit in about a month!!!)

I know people that swear by the stuff though

    Cycle on, cycle off.
Also-try glutamine. It'll help with recovery.
