Removing the secondary air filter.

Is the secondary air filter the thin one thats connected to the cover of the air filter? I had to break it to remove it.

 

thanks, I dont see the point of it being there. Sooner or later it will become clogged and it cant be removed without breaking it so its impossible to clean. My truck sounds much better with the pro dry filter.

 

Agreed...The combination of the 2nd filter delete and the pro dry S replacement have been great, really woke up the sound and overall smoothness and throttle response, Love it...
Then I added the TRD exhaust and I couldn't be happier...Not obnoxious loud and sound is perfect, sounds like a tacoma now instead of a camry

 

Unless you run without a primary air filter, I would imagine that it will be ten or fifteen million miles before the secondary air filter is clogged enough to worry about it.

Since it has no effect on fuel economy or performance...it's kind of a non-issue. The only thing you "gain" is slightly increased emissions.

 

Shoulda left it alone. It was there for a reason. It's not like you gain anything from removing it.

 

I would leave it as it keeps your maf cleaner

I disagree and i'm sure the so called fact police will be chimming in, but I feel removal of the secondary filter definately smoothed out things through the power band..Which makes sense cause your taking away a restriction and in place of it are having nothing there(straight through flow).. MY OPINION , I could care less about these people who supposly checked it out....

 

If it were there for a reason then it woul be used when you install aftermarket cold air intakes, which it's not...

 

Another thing that cracks me up is....Oh it helps the 4 but not the 6 cyclinder, what a load of crap.. Please tell me oh wise ones that say this, how does it help one and not the other,,,what a joke..

 

no because the point of an aftermarket intake is to increase air flow. they are not there as a "factory replacement". they are marketed as an upgrade.

because they are different engines.

Certain things yes and others no, Just cause people have alot of posts doesn't qualify them as experts in my opinion..In my experience these people are more like followers, spreading the words or so called facts of others and have NO real results for themselves... I think thats sums it up well...

 

Um actually it was 540 hp in stock form and the main HP was produced by the eaton blower on it, later changed to a TVS ( that I installed)...

Can I further assist you in learning more about the shelb before you speak?

 

Yes I do feel his results COULD be in inaccurate...
I like to get Fact by my own eyes not others words...
