Oil Question New Truck

I am at 4700 miles and decide to get my 1st oil change at the stealership. BIG MISTAKE!
I had the filter marked to make sure they replaced it. Get home and the filter had not been replaced, and they scratch and gouge the hell out of my rims doing a tire rotation along with grease and oil prints inside the truck.

Took it back to them and made them redo the oil change. They knew the filter was not replaced not only by my markings, but because apparently the factory filter has a different part number than the replacement filter or is somehow different? Didn’t notice the scratched rims till after the redo. Not sure what I am going to do about that.

I am beginning to wonder if they even put in synthetic oil? Also, I can not see the oil on the dip stick. It is clear. I have cleaned the dipstick real good and when I re-check the oil, I can feel oil up to the second mark, but can not see it. It looks like water. Is this normal? I thought the oil should have a yellowish tint to it? Now I am wondering if I am driving truck with low oil?

Think I am going to change it myself to be sure it’s done right.

If you got a brand new truck, don;t trust these clown asses at the stealership. This is a dealership that I have been going to for over 8 years for service and have always been pretty happy with them, but of course now, they thoroughly f*ck up with a new truck. More than PISSSED OFF right now.

 

The dipstick is really hard to read even with used oil because of the asshat bends in it that spread oil while pulling it out. Best bet to read it is in the morning after it has sat and read it the first time you pull it out, otherwise there will be oil in the tube and it'll be hard to tell again. This is the stupidest dipstick to read that I've ever had on any vehicle. Oh, mine is the 4 cyl. Might not be as silly on the 6.

This is exactly the reason I've decided to do my own service. I let the dealer do the first one, but since then I've put on aftermarket wheels and I don't want 'em scratched up. Also, on top of that, I just don't trust 'em with my truck. If you want it done right, you better do it yourself!

Glad to hear others say it should be clear too. I am 1/2 tempted to just drain and redo it myself.

So you think I am being to picking on the gouges, scratches? Would like to know what you guys think?
I am pretty protective of my truck and hate anyone f*ing with it.

Link works, and I would not be happy about those. They look pretty bad. I would have them fix that. And ya dip stick is hard to read. 1 way to make it alittle easier to read is to scuff up the end with some sand paper and oil sticks a little better. Just make sure if you do to clean it off after your done real good so you don't get any metal shavings in there.

I see the scratches, some of those marks do look like grease though. They arn't even close to the lugs...wow, they must have scratched balancing them. Idiots

 

UN-for-tune-ate-lee the only way to ever know it (whatever it is) was done right, is to do it (whatever you are capable of) yourself.

That goes for oil changes and tire rotation also.

My friend, who chastises me on a regular basis for doing simple stuff myself, was caught cleaning a spot off his driveway. I got him to admit that the oil spot was a result of a hand tightened oil drain plug from a Wally World oil change.

 

Is this your first new vehicle? Surely it can't be your first EVER time to experience this kind of oil change hacking. Your complaints are common, and your resolution is fair. Sadly, some of us are forced to take it to such places for services, at least some of the time.

My Maxima has had two wheel studs replaced in the last two trips (to different places, no less) because the monkeys insist on using impact wrench to start the lugs. Idiots.

Not sure if you have the 4cyl, but if you do, 5 1/2 qts will get
the oil level pretty close. As others have said, the dipstick
is nearly unreadable especially with fresh oil.

btw, what NC dealership did the work?...
i'd be ready to rip a new one after seeing those wheels,
not to mention not changing the filter...jeez.

I did wash them and thought the same thing too....that it was grease but NO it is gouges. These are only of 2 wheels. They did it to all 4 of them.

I just amazes me how they can f*ck up an oil change so bad! I've sent the pics to the owner of the dealership.

What I have not even mentioned yet,this truck has had a vibration since new. I have had the wheels balanced 4 times in 4500 miles. I had them re-balance yesterday, and they said they test drove it. It had 4710 when they took it in and 4713 when they returned it, so where in the hell did they test drive the thing? The vibration is still there of course.

Sorry but I am just venting right now.

 

Sorry to hear about that man. Just do the oil changes yourself. Seriously...they're VERY easy on this truck. Same w/ tire rotations and all of that basic maintenance stuff. Gives you some added pride in your vehicle and you KNOW the work was done right.

 

Call corp... they should replace your wheels. I would also try and get some compensation for the oil change BS.

No, not my first new vehicle. This is my 3rd new Tacoma not to mention a celica, a few corollas, blah blah, throughout the years. (Yeah I am OLD) Never had a problem with these guys before. Had no reason to believe they would screw up an oil chnge this bad.

Yes and sometimes you are forced to deal with these clowns. Especially when it is 10deg. out or snowing and all you got to work on is a rock gravel driveway.

Wish someone, somewhere would open a DIY heated garage with a lift that you could rent out by the hour or day to work on your vehicles.

NEVER trust them!! Example read what happened to me...
When I took mine in for the TSB leafsprings they installed the same 3 leafs instead of the 4 that is mentioned in the TSB. To top it off they installed my neighbors "new" 3 leaf springs. How do I know, HIS NAME WAS ON IT!!!! What dum asses!! Got the manager and the stupids who said that .."That is the new springs sir, they are firmer!! I got the TSB and went over it with them and told them they where Wrong!! They said How do you know?? Simple I said.."MY neighbors name is on it!!! The manager pulled the guys aside and the idiots!! Needless to say the manager did some serious ass kissing and got the correct 4 leafs and I told him it's . Just try not to let it happen to someone else.

I have. I have place 2 calls to Corp. and told them I want new rims or they need to figure out a way to fix these. Also told them if I have to bring it back in to this stealership, I am staying with the truck at all times. It is not going to leave my sight.

To be honest though, I have written these clown asses off and will start using another dealership 50 miles from my house. Once you log a big complaint against them, I think it's foolish to then go back cause you know they are most likely going f*ck something up intentionally to piss you off even more and try and get even with you. Been there..done that with a Subaru dealership 35 years ago.
