Hello, my name is Jeff and I am new to the truck world. After doing some extensive research, I've decided to go with the Toyota Tacoma. I did opt for the TRD package as well as the 4x4 drivetrain. This is my also my FIRST brand new vehicle purchase. I traded in a 2006 Mitsubishi Lancer Evolution MR. Since I'm new to trucks, what basic accessories should I get for my truck? I don't do any hauling or towing but I do like to go off-road from time to time; especially in the snow. Here are some pics:

I'm still tryin to figure out how to use it. I had to take a snapshot of the entune sticker and email it to them and they just now got back to me (a week later) so I'm gonna follow the instructions on how to set it up.

Congrats. I bet it's a big change from your MR. Good choice on the Entune system. I'll be interested to hear your thoughts on it.

    Excellent Choice!

Not 'just' a TRD, but the original TRD, the TRD that adds four wheel drive-ability to your truck, the OFF ROAD TRD!!! ;)

Things that may be done for off roading, yet maintaing the stock truck:

Remove the mud flaps, they break off easily if you drive off road into ruts, snow, mud.

Relocate the trailer wire plug receiver that is under the bumper (if you have the tow package), as it will bust off.

Perform the rear differential breather mod., if you could ever go into muddy water over 18" deep.

Replace the BFG Rugged Trails (Rugged Fails)... as soon as your budget allows... They don't last much over 25,000 miles anyway (if you drive it like a truck and not a princess carriage).

Otherwise, your stock Off Road TRD is an amazing truck and with the A-TRAC you will be amazed at how it crawls over steep trails or pulls you free of deep ruts, sand, mud. There is a rear locking differential if the A-TRAC doesn't do it alone... or you prefer one over the other (you can use both together, too)!

Thanks! I was looking into the weathertech floor mats. And possibly window and bug deflectors. Nothing too much right now as I just spent a fortune on this truck. Probably within about 6 months I'll be supercharging it. I've contacted TRD and they don't have any word on a supercharger kit for it. We'll see.

I'm taking her off-road today. I've hit the initial break-in period (500 miles). I'm not gonna go crazy.. there's a place called Carnagie in Livermore, CA and they specialize in ATV's and bikes but they have a SMALL section for 4x4 trucks. I'm gonna see what she's made of! Any precautions I should know? I'm new to trucks but I've always wanted an off-road truck since I was young. Please let me know. I'm leaving in an hour!

    Don't scratch it.
    Mind your front mud flaps.
