Does anyone know who makes toyota's sythetic oil. I have heard that it is actually mobil 1. Reason why I ask is that I have always changed my own oil but ever since I purchased my 2011 2.7ltr tacoma I let toyota do the free oil changes. The engine calls for synthetic so thats what they use. Just wondering if its a true synthetic or a blend that they are calling synthetic.

    This is true.

Some dealerships use the Toyota Brand oil, but others will use whatever they can get the cheapest/easiest in their area.

Try going to the dealer in Honolulu. Monopoly. Never would take my truck there, can't afford it. (actually I'm too much of a tightwad)
