Radio stays on when truck is turned off/ key removed

hello all, I have an 08 v6 double cab tacoma. Completely stock audio setup and electronics, automatic windows. Just a few days ago I turned my truck off and the radio and clock stayed on. I learned the radio stays on for about 30 seconds after the truck is turned off and then will shut down. My automatic windows will also operate for about 30 seconds once I shut the truck off and the key is removed. I do not know how long it takes for the clock to shut off. My battery has not drained enough to not start the truck yet, but I need to get this problem fixed asap. The truck has 50,000 miles so it is beyond warranty. Does anyone know of this problem or have any suggestions where I should investigate? Thanks for the help. Oh yeah, this all happens when the key is removed and the door has been opened and closed

 

Mine does that all the time. It all shuts off when I open the door. It's built to do that so you have power to get the windows closed and what not.

 

Normal, if you open the door it will go off.

 

That is a standard thing. My truck does it too. I have an 07. Kinda cool if you stop somewhere and shut the truck off. Can still operate the windows and what not. It won't have a bad effect on your battery. Promise.

 

Does the clock even shut off? I can't remember if it does.

 

Yes everything should shut off once the door is opened.

But it does go off by itself, or do you have to do something to make them go off?

 

That would lead me to believe there is a problem with the door switch that discharges the stored power...but it does go out after 30 seconds or so?? That means the power isn't coming form the battery continuously.

 

Yes the radio will turn off after about 30 seconds. I am not sure how long it takes for the clock to turn off. They both do turn off eventually though.

 

Sticky relay maybe? Not sure what's in the circuit to provide that extra time after the key is off. If it's just a plug in relay, should be easy to change and see if that takes care of it. And probably cheaper than a dealer diagnostic charge. Search for factory service manual on here. There should be a link somewhere. Otherwise, I have used the one on TTORA.

I know mine goes off when the door is opened.

 

It does sound like the door switch is not working. Does the dome light come on when you open the door?
