I hate the beeps and would rather not have any sound at all. If there is a passenger then I have to press the unlock button twice and it makes 4 loud BEEP, BEEP, BEEP, BEEP sounds. :(

Can someone please tell me how to turn the beeping sound off? :)

    Thanks!

I'm taking my Taco to my buddy who owns and audio store to have him hardwire the Valentine 1 Radar detector and my TomTom. Do you think he can turn the beeping off somehow?

Maybe he could disconnect whatever is making the beeping sound.

    Any thoughts?

I actually want the beeps on my Taco. How can I get the beeps? I didn't know you could buy it with the beeps.

My 09 beeps twice when I unlock the driver's door and twice when I unlock the other doors so that makes 4 loud beeps....it's annoying as hell! Only one beep when I lock it.

    I hate this!

yeah my 09 does it, i can deal with it since my 4runner used to honk the horn twice when unlocking and once when locking instead of the beeps...thats MUCH more annoying

So there's another difference in the 08s and 09s.

Guys I really think you are better off without it. I couldn't see anyone wanting the 4 loud beeps.

The Acura I had would make a soft tone but only when the lock/unlock was pressed twice. It was softer and I liked it but these damn beeps are loud and what's up with having 4 if you want to unlock for the passengers? The beeps are loud enough to hear all the way across a parking lot.

I gotta find a way to get rid of them.

Subscribed. They're nice sometimes, but the flashing lights is enough for me.

Do you have the factory alarm?

Mine doesn't beep (wish it did) and if I get the factory alarm system - it will beep.

Not sure if that's something new on all the 09's or whether you just have the alarm system.

I do not have the factory alarm system. It beeps with just the factory keyless entry system. Guys, I really don't think you would want this loud beep....and it does it 4 times when you unlock all the doors.

I like the more stealth approach...I don't like people knowing when I'm coming or going. For example, I snuck out of work early the other day and my damn Taco beeped so loud I got caught  Yeah they heard me from inside the building.

It was kinda funny though :D

Anyone know where the beeps come from...if so I could just clip the wire going to the beeper.

    Nope, no alarm.

FWIW, I hear the same beep sequence when my neighbors unlock their Lexus SUV. It's not new, so they may have moved the Tacoma lock-unlock to a Lexus-like system. May be of some use to your audio guy in figuring out how to make it go away.

Maybe we just need to remove the piezo buzzer...wonder if this would work...

    http://www.trdoffroad.com/articles/keyless/

I guess I would rather see if there's a way to program it to turn off rather than clipiping wires. Not sure if our piezo buzzer is located in the same place as the article I linked.

i just called toyota to try and find out how to do it but he said they have to hook it up to the computer to shut the beep off. said it cost 80 bucks, but we call them a stealership for a reason. i will look at her manual when i get home tonight.

I didn't think about it at the time. I just got my Taco so I'm not used to it.
