    I ran every trail without sliders and had no damage so you should be fine its all about listening to your spoters

    That's good to know. If it comes to that, do the OEM step tubes hurt more then they help? They are quite wide.
    In other words, should I take them off before leaving for UWE?

    I would say yes- if you hit them, when they get all dented up, they're going to (possibly) get pushed into your rocker panel, causing further damage.

    Then again, if that happens, maybe the same impact that does that to your step tubes will hit your rocker as well...

    I know that the first post states that there are trails for everyone. I have a prerunner and it is my daily driver...never been off roading in a vehicle before (only 4 wheelers) so I am totally inexperienced. Is this something I could participate in without destroying my truck?
