I bought my TRD OR truck a few months ago. It was the only dcsb around that I could find, and I got it for a steal. But after reading here I realize that the LSD of the sport would probably suit my needs better. I will probably never offroad , so the e locker is probably never going to get used.

I am kind of dumb when it comes to this stuff, but is it possible to simply replace the locker for the LSD? What about just swapping the entire pumpkin?

The Elocker is a 8 inch rear and the lsd is a 8.4 inch so NO you could not just swap the 3rd member . You would have to swap the complete rear axle assembly .

And then the computer programming would be probably different, because your locker is electronic. LSD is mechanical, so I don't know if you're gonna get error codes....

I misread. Swapping in the LSD would probably be a pain. But if you want I will trade you your e-locker for an open diff that you can put an LSD in

the e locker is not tied into the computer . you can also get the wireing from 12 volt guy .com if you need to . it would be a straight forward swap . personaly i think you would be better off to keep the locker though .

The e-locker is actually tied to the 4wd computer (unless its a prerunner) which is why you can't engage it unless you are in 4lo, but disconnecting it won't cause any error codes

the switch may be tied into the computer But the rear 3rd member ( the elocker itself ) is not . I have put them in my 85 and it has nothing to do with a computer . That is why i suggested useing a stand alone switch / harness from 12volt guy . so to answer the OP yes you can do the swap but you will have to swap the complete axle NOW with that said i have no clue if the newer lsd will work ? i think in 09 they changed

Just because you don't go off-road, does not mean that you won't need it one of these days. Case in point, I went to the beach a few years back and while I kept to the paved road, a gal flagged me down because her BF got his truck stuck in the sands. I can see from a distance that he was rocking his F150 to no avail. Was not able to pull him out with 4Lo, had to lock the rear differential to get it done.

Anyway, it's better to have it and not need it than to need it and don't have it!
