HELP-I just got my 2010 DC TRD Sport back from the local dealer after getting the harsh ride TSB #0359-10-They took off my Bilsteins and put on new shocks front and rear along with the 4 leaf springs. The TSB clearly states on page 6 NOT to replace the shocks. I will call in the AM to bitch but I do not want them to touch my truck again so my question is what are the shocks that they installed. They are just marked Toyota, I know the TRD Bilsteins are not great but I did pay extra for them in the TRD package-What do you guys think?

I thought it was the other way around! They put the black base shocks on? They effed up and should put your Bilstiens back on.

    Just get a good AAL.

Rear Leaf spring TSB, Bilstein 5100's all around w/ front set at 1.75", 265/75R/16 Mickey Thompson Baja STZ's, Trailer hitch w/custom wiring, AFE drop in dry filter, Rear Diff breather mod, Debadged truck, customized stock TRD wheel center caps, added factory fog lights, bed mat, door sills, tinted windows
They installed the TRD Bilsteins when they did the TSB on my truck. I know there are other leaf spring options, but for free this is an upgrade to the stock springs. Go get the TRD shocks back, even if you do not want them, you can sell them on e-bay like I did. :D

Only way he could get them back is if they remove the others and put the correct ones back on the truck. Toyota won't give out replaced warranty parts, they have to be sent back to toyota for inspection or thrown away at the discretion of toyota. Either way, he def should go back and get his stuff fixed right, i just ordered a set of tsb springs for a local member with a 2010, and no shocks were needed, per tsb. Dont know why they would have replaced them at that shop.

This is the only model that should get new shocks:

Just to add to Jason's post.
If they tell you that they don't have them then they owe you a NEW set of shocks.
Also see if they do another alignment.....It's the right thing to do.
They screwed up. Lets see if they can salvage the situation.

Many of the dealers mis-read the TSB. Mine did the same thing and put the non-TRD shocks on the truck. I made an issue to correct them and when we read the TSB together, they agreed they F'd up. I didn't take back the Bilsteins because I was swapping them out with Bilstein 5100's anyways. I just wanted to show them they were wrong for the next customer that might want to keep the original Bilsteins.

I dont think we need to generalize about all dealers out there, come to FL and see what ya get before you start talking bad about us.
Not cool man, not cool! LOL Just kidding, I know there are some mighty shady shops out there.

My service writer insists there is no TSB for the 2010s... I don't need it, but I printed all of it out in case I did, before I get to 36,000 miles.

I got lucky with the springs they put on my truck! No harsh ride/ bottoming-out.

When I brought mine in for inspection, he came out with an appt and a list of things that they ordered for my truck. I didn't look at it until I got home but I did see that they ordered new shocks for mine too. I immediately called them and told them WHERE on the TSB it said that mine were not to be replaced. He went over the TSB and thanked me for noticing that. I would feel funny if I got something I wasn't supposed to.

Yeah, as I said, many dealers. Not all and I was certainly not generalizing. It's just not the first time I heard this happening at different dealers around the country. Also, I don't consider my dealer shady at all. In fact, I'm very pleased with them. They just mis-read the TSB. That's all. They did offer to put the original Bilsteins back on, but as I said, I was going to replace them with 5100's anyways, so no big deal.

Foglights are for fog, not oncoming traffic!
Did you install your 5100's on a stock suspension or were there other changes?
