Ok so i am going to get a 3in suspension lift "rough country" and it says shocks are not required but i kinda want them.. should i get two aftermarket shocks and if so should i get a red boot cover or black? i have a silver trd sport.. I think red boot cover would look cool..? OPINIONS PLEASE :D

Also would the ride quality be better with new shocks or is it not worth it??

Is your rough country lift a spacer lift?

If your concerned about ride quality at all there are much better options.

    Black boot...

Same lift except with an AAL which is what you'll want.

I'd get a pair of Adjustable Bilstein 5100's and set them to 2.5 up front. And an AAL and 5100's in the back. Call it good until you can upgrade your full front spring assembly with a new Coilover or eibach or OME springs.

I would do the Procomp over a spacer lift for sure. You get new coils, AAL's, and four new shocks. It's a great value for under 500 bucks. Having said that, the spring rate is pretty high and some people say they aree too stiff to be comfortable and provide over 3 inches of lift which is not good.

I would buy front 5100's for your stock coils and an AAL for now. You can buy Eibach coils later for 150 bucks and make it a little better while keeping shocks you already paid for. You can also add new longer rear shocks when funds are available. Total for all that should be 550 to 600 bucks and IMHO will be a better riding setup than the Procomp.

well the rough country is a spacer= bad ride
and ive had the procomp and i hated it. that specific procomp is a pile. 720#front springs give way to a really crappy ride

Can't argue with that. It's too bad because if they would have got the engineering right it could have been a good little kit. I wonder if anyone has ditched the 720 lb coils for some Eibach or OME ones with a lighter spring rate.

I bought this lift on my old truck, wasnt impressed. It is inexpensive, and it does its intended purpose for the money, however there are many, many better lift options. I ended up replacing mine after about 6 months.

when i did have the lift, i contacted procomp and the rep told me that if i were able to find another coilover that would have the correct length when compressed you should be able to swap it out. so that could be an option for some people out there.
