    :p

I would still argue that has more to do with Toyota's piss-poor rear differentials on these e-locked trucks than anything else.

Also: Log recovery blew the rear, not the ledge.

One of the basic, good suggestions was to get the adjustable front shocks (5100 series) and set them at one of the preset lift notches, but keep your stock springs. Or, if you can afford it, get the shocks and the new (OME) springs. For the rear you could get an AAL (add-a-leaf). Cheap and easy to install.

I feel so proud of myself, lol, knowing what the hell all this is now. I went through the same decisions just a year ago :) You learn a lot hanging around on this board. It also gets very expensive over time.

Stay away from the spacers. You don't need a whole new leaf pack. Save yourself $500+ (don't forget shipping will be expensive). Do you have the rear spring TSB done?

Get the 5100s ($199.99 from TT)
Get the Toytec AAL ($79.99 from TT)

If you can afford it, get the springs. You can keep your current springs to save some money now, and upgrade your springs later. At least you already have your shocks. Don't skip on the shocks.

You can, if you want to, also upgrade your rear shocks. It doesn't give you a lift but the shocks will be better and give you a better ride. Toytec has all 4 shocks for $349.

Also, you might need wheel spacers to get those tires going. Spidertrax spacers are very recommended. They run, I believe, about $100 for a set of 2. Get them for both axles or your truck will look odd.

I have 2 leafs with the overload (i think the terminology is correct). So you think that the OME Dakar leaf kit is over rated?

Oh I'm sure it's a great leaf pack. If you want it, get it. I don't have it myself. All I was trying to do is save you some dough.

ETA: I don't know how much lift that pack will bring. You have to keep that in mind when buying. You need something that is in-line with what you're planning on lifting the front to. You don't want to lift the rear 4" while only doing 2" on the front. That'll look odd in my opinion.

    Rear lift options: Rear 2 inch add-a-leafs (+ $79.00)

So is this something like you were talking about?

Yep. Just make sure you get the right Add-a-leaf. They have one specifically for Tacomas with the TSB pack, and one for trucks without.

No problem. Also, when you're ready to order call Toytec and talk to them about it. Don't just do it online. They can make sure everything is kosher and might suggest additions (like a rear drive shaft drop kit or sway-bar relocation bracket) which may or may not be needed.

They're good guys. Also, as a member of TW you get a small discount on your order. Ask about it.

So, you're coming next month? I'll be there and it'll be my first trail run too.
Use that $60 and get a CB radio. No money should be left unspent ;)

ETA: btw you're saving a lot more by not getting that leaf pack and pay for its shipping!

Yeah, I'll be there...need to get away from my house for a bit (been remodeling it the past 8 months and havent left except to go to work). I just want to do the lift correct because I am very particular in the stuff I do ( even though I am not mechanically inclined at all when it comes to vehicles).
