    I wanted to read some good books about the current wars in Iraq and Afghanistan. Ive already read "Generation Kill" by Evan Wright and One Bullet Away: The Making of a Marine Officer" by Nate Fick, those were great books. Im also reading "Heavy Metal: A Tank Company's Battle to Bagdad" by Capt. Jason Conroy.... so I'm looking into reading more... these wars are very interesting to read about, and it is also a kind of research about what it is kind of about over there, since my plan is to join the USAF after college...any help is greatly appreciated.

    When I was in I used CALL or the combine US Army Combined Arms Center for Lessons Learned. It was a great tool. Its online now for I use to get it in print form. I do not know if the USAF has the same.

    is there a way i could put this in the military section, maybe the mods could do it for me?? i would really like to start reading up now on as many good books as possible, about overseas and stuff like that....similar to Generation Kill, in the way that it is about a unit and its deployment, or a soldier and his memoirs and such?? any help would be greatly appreciated

    house to house by David Bellavia is a pretty crazy one about the authors time in Fallujah. I had a couple more that a friend gave to me but I cant remember the name of the others ATM.

    Have you read Marcus Luttrel's Lone Survivor? That was a crazy read too. Not really about Iraq, but his time in Afghanistan

    Thanks a lot for these recommendations!!! they both sound great, i have not read the second one, but i definitely want to....and it doesn't have to be about iraq, just looking for books about the deployment and such in the middle east

    Restrepo was just.....wow....that was a great documentary....very deep on the emotions, i teared up when the Sgt died, i believe his name was Rougal.... RIP to all our soldiers who have died
