Better Gas mileage with Premium?

I decided after only getting about 400kms per tank to try a few tanks or premium 91. I get about 500-525km now with premium. Anyone else notice the difference?

 

ya same thing here, prem gets me a heck of a lot more kms

 

Yes, I was getting about 18 mpg with 87 octane, and switching to 93 octane gave me just over 21 mpg.

 

goddamn ethanol.....

 

Most likely has to do with the ethanol. Around here, 93 octane does not contain ethanol and you dont get the same energy from E-10 (gas with a 10% ethanol blend) as you do from 100% gasoline.

 

Same between 89 and 91 for me.... 89 runs just as good I think.

 

i dont think the octane rating really matters with our trucks, i think it is mostly the ethanol that affects the mileage. i could be wrong though

 

Any one run 94 octane and notice even more of a difference?

i usually dont buy prem fuel here, i go out to rama and get it cheap fill a few jerry cans

what ever the price is in barrie take off the 14.7cent tax. I dont work in barrie, but am looking for a new job here. that is friggin funny, my house is right behind the RVH!

 

Anyone see a diffrence between 89 and 91...

I always see 87 vs 91, but what about 89 vs 91?

 

not likely going to be a big difference since mid grade has 5% ethanol in it, would be a lil better than the 87 octane

 

Here in So Cal, 91 has ethanol also... like 10%

Thats probably y it all seems the same to me. I never ran 87 though and don't plan on it.

 

ya up here its 10% ethanol for 87, 5%for 89 and most places no ethanol in the premium
