Depending how much city driving you do, and freeway..I'd get a Detroit in the rear, ARB up front.
Then do r/p while at it..

I see a lot more 1st gen CVs, spider gears, and ring and pinions blown up in the front than 2nd gens. Yes, I've wheeled with both. And im pretty sure the 2nd gens have an 8'' up front while the 1st gens only have 7.5'' up front. But im not sure, those are just my observations.

far as stock shit on a Toy SA..birfs, cracked knuckles, etc..

 

Slight misunderstanding. Although when people talk about the strength of IFS its usually the driveline, CVs, R&P, spider gears, etc.

I've actually heard less issues w/ the front driveline around here, but its probably mostly due to the lack of rocks and other rough stuff here in florida that will tear up a driveline.

 

You've got the wrong solid axle.

 

A stock front Toy axle is NOT as strong as alot of you guys think.
Big tires = break shit.

and unless your a millionaire and plan on going like 44 and 9" in the back...stock front Yota axles aren't really that strong..especially when you get anything bigger then 35s on them. Stock birfs won't handle that..let alone longs. I've seen countless parts break on Toy axles..


Yeah sure you can toss it under tons and call it a day..but then you'll never break shit..and have a wheel track like a fucking spidermonkey..now you can't run tight trails...and it's not like a buggy with rear steer.

 

Shorten the WMS, problem solved. Strong axles that can fit on tight trails

i have a 44 and didnt break the bank, and anyways id be willing to bet if you put the same size tires on an IFS rig it would break more.

Most certainly.

Everyone who goes off-road, needs to learn their own driving style and the terrain and build to that. Know your limits. Don't go beyond those limits or else pay the price in broken parts and wasted time on the trail fixing shit. Keep your junk maintained. Cuz rigs that go off-road require a lot more maintenance.

It's best to build slightly stronger than your style & terrain and still maintain a responsible driving.
