Who knows if he used the traction controls or had the VSC turned off...? Pulling him backwards up a hill must have been the height of embarassment for him, eh?
Nice of you to help, none-the-less...

Meh I am not planning to make long post, I just find quite hilarious that mid blizzard I find 2gen TRD, stuck like hell, spinning wheels making all kinds of noise. When I walk to it doors open and I see bunch of printouts on the console from Tacomaworld and David K's ATRAC thread.
You have have no idea how that made my day.
    :D
I did consider living him there.
I have yet to be pulled by ATRAC vehicles. Now I am thinking I should start putting marks on my truck how many Traction control vehicles I had saved. Maybe something like they had on WWII fighters.:)

I Don't know what he had on or off. I know he could not get e-locker to engage. ( so the answer to original OP question is yes I guess) We went up the hill because it makes no difference to my LC and I did not want him to slide into me. His front was stuck in the snow bank so I could not hook him by front plus tow hitch is stronger then those links up front.
I guess it was little embarrassing to be dragged backwards.

So, maybe tires had something to do with it as well as driver error?
Yah, a stamp to mark the side of your LC with pulls made would be fun!

Helping others on the trail is the right thing to do.

Here is an A-TRAC activated truck (me) pulling a stuck 2nd. Gen. Tacoma (James) up the Diablo Dropoff, Anza-Borrego Desert State Park, a couple weeks ago:

This shit, I swear to God.

We've been over it too many times and I'm fucking tired of typing about it. Suffice it to say HBMurphy, Myself, MonkeyProof, Marlon, and the rest of the guys who have seen locked rigs next to A-TRAC rigs and wheel hard know what's up. And that doesn't mean A-TRAC is bad. Everyone else can continue to play armchair wheeler. This shit is past old.

I think I'm going to work on a next-gen traction control system for Tacomas that is a best in class combination of TRAC/A-TRAC/Lockers to finally end the debate.

I'm going to used a staged solution that incrementally steps between yellow wire modded TRAC, then A-TRAC, and finally a hacked A-TRAC control module that fires ARB lockers when the GPS sensor determines 0 forward velocity with multiple wheels spinning or an A-TRAC module having an epilectic seizure. With all the rubber in the drive line and axle wrap from the weak rear leafs, I'll have pre-engineered OEM force reduction strategies in place. This is going to rock with my 6MT!

    I'll market it as HACK-A-TRAC. :D

Coming soon is a retro-fit kit for non TRAC/A-TRAC vehicles that utlizes ONLY yellow wires to connect all the new components and a vague set of instructions.

Bro 1: Am I supposed to connect this with the brown on yellow wire or the black on yellow wire?
Bro 2: I think it's the dark green on yellow wire but I can't tell from the picture. Just plug the damn thing in and see if it works ...

You will enjoy Cleg - fun place.

You sir are correct, I would love to see a hood that would flip the inner part of the hood so that you would have a better view of what's to come. The reason why I was advocating the Sport was that I was really talking about getting rid of non-trussed differential. Elockers are great for the feature but I just like the idea of the truss on the 8.4 - still can't get over how freakin small the ring gear is in these things. I would love to see the inside of this '8.2' they are now putting in these trucks (FJs and 4rnrs at least).

One of the last times I was in Lytle Creek, I did stop by and visited with Neal. How is he doing, I think of him any time I am in that area.

Zoom and I have contemplated doing Mexico again. I just wish it included a Trophy Truck, a helo and umbrella girls!!! :)

I think 2010 on may have this new '8.2' - once again, I would love to see the inside of that thing.

Roland, I admire the way you did your rig - You are one of the wisest guys I've met when it comes to dollars and sense for a rig. Once I get my wheels back on my truck we'll have to wheel again! :)

James may not be your best example!!!

You have got that right!!! Speaking of lockers - It's time to lock this bitch up!!!
